Is it cpu bound or gfx card bound.

As i just got it and patched up and when i play using high its a bit of a slouch in the fps dept. Its about 10-15 fps ish im guessing. I will do fraps some other time to be sure.

Specs are.

AMD 64 3500+ stock, venice
2gb geil value ram
asus v9999 GE AGP, moving to x1950pro HIS maybe if i can sell this card i have first.
Audigy 2 zs

84.xx drivers for asus card.

Looks great but even oblivion ran better than this.

Just tryed medium then i changed to custom with medium settings showed i just changed the catch to max and draw distance (top two) to max. Tho draw distance is pap still. Fps was a lot better about 20 when the new stuff is loaded into memory/cache.

Anyhow what kinda frame rate boost will i get when i get the x1950pro 512mb HIS AGP card. Or will i have getten a better boost with a new cpu do you think?

new gfx card is cheaper all round as its just the 1 thing and i personally feel the 3500 cpu is still good for awhile yet.

So anyhow back to my original question.

Is gothic 3 more cpu or more gfx card based game. And as i asked what kinda estimate fps boost (what will average be) when i move from asus v9999 [6800 256mb card] to the HIS AGP version 512mb x1950pro.

Cheers.

Don't upgrade for this game.

Its bugged beyond recognition, the lack of FPS you're getting is due to the game, not your system specs. The game is hardly optimised at all, when it first came out I was using a 6200, upgraded to a 7300gt and recieved a 5-10fps drop on low settings, its quite common in Gothic 3 from what i've read. Its one of the few games where an upgrade could possibly result in worse performance. :p

Check on the official tech forums and you'll find some .ini tweaks that'll run the game more smooth(ish).

Yep the game is pretty awful for that.

A friend just bought:

E6600
2gb
8800gtx

and it still lags out in the field because of some apparent stutter bug.

The game feels like its still in the testing phase :( .

Shame because it's got loads of potential imo.
