Anyone suffer from this?

I'm 36 and I had a few attacks of it about 5 years ago, within the space of about 3 months, then literally nothing until yesterday morning.

I have lost some weight, 15 stone down to 12 and a half since the last time, and I haven't particularly eaten a load of rubbish so came out of the blue a bit.

Man I forgot how painful it is, anyone who's had it will know what I'm talking about.

Anyone got any tips for helping, what not to eat etc, other then the obvious don't indulge on rich food and drink too much.

Currently drinking plenty of water and I only had a light vegetarian risotto yesterday, going to have s salad today.

Give up or significantly cut down on your intake of meat and alcohol, drink lots of water - a vegetarian diet may help, a vegan diet is OTT.

Feel free to go to your GP, they are likely to advise as above - they will also advise you to lose weight, give up smoking and take more exercise - all standard, sensible advice :)

What's your boozing like, my dude?

Admittedly this is probably my downfall, I do drink more than I should.

But.... I didn't drink much last week other than Friday night with that kebab, must have been enough to trigger it.

It's getting a lot better this afternoon thankfully, still sore but I can more less put weight on it.

Avoid foods high in purines. Keep the foot warm. Drink plenty of water and avoid flexing the joint if possible. If it's reoccurring, then you may want to have a health check carried out, as it could indicate an issue with your liver; the place purines are metabolised and its byproduct uric acid is formed. If your body isn't metabolising the purines effectively, then it will lead to elevated uric acid levels and crystal formation around the joints of the most distal phalanges (gout)

Out of curiosity, are you diabetic?

My Dad has had Gout for 2 months now, still not cleared, Doctor given me riods now.

Dad has other health issues and disabled, he can't walk at all, so it could be worse OP!

Worst pain I've ever experienced, and that includes breakages and a nasty H. Pylori infection.

I take dried cherry supplements to help keep it under control -- ESPECIALLY when I'm boozing.

I drink like a fish, so the cause is pretty self-evident.
