I really loved GOW,, great graphics , gameplay etc,, but im finding im enjoying RFOM, even more, the location fights are great, and so are the weapons, all in all a class game, and if this is a taste of things to come on the Ps3, well bring it on:)

RFoM doesnt even come close to Gears of War to me. Single player anyway, online will get onto that later

Single player the game just feels very boring and dull, the lack of rumble just makes it feel like there is no atmosphere, and I really thought I wouldnt miss rumble at all as I've always felt it was just a gimmick.
Also it just seems very repetitve and same old same old. Gears of War was very similar all the way through, but it just had that edge that made you not care and have loads of fun anyway.

Also for me, and I'm about halfway through, theres not been any "Wow how cool" weapons yet either. The chainsaw in Gears Of War made me giggle like a little school girl and grin no end, it was a great experience, all the weapons in RFoM just feel the same with a different model and ammo, thats it

Also vehicles, again I'm only half way through (i think) and I cant see all the fuss about the vehicles that they were sposed to have. Gears of War only had one vehicle so it was poor on that front, but so far all I've been in was a tank in RFoM, and that felt like it was thrown in just for the sake ok it. No real purpose, I didnt even shoot anything cool, just like 5 enemies, one on a turret, whats the point?

Graphically, Gears of War is leagues ahead. RFoM is very dull looking, textures are very flat and lifeless, lighting feels non existent in places and to use the saying again, everywhere just looks the same

Right, onto Online, this is where RFoM walks all over GoW. Gears of War is a lot more, with your mates and have a laugh sort of fun, RFoM is full on competitve and a right frag fest. Its great, I love it and the medals and ribbons make you wanna keep playing it to get more. As well as the ranking system, very well done.

Overall, GoW for single player by miles and miles, and vice versa for online

You havent got far enough into the game, i love the auger its so cool, in the bunkers i just clear out the bottom and auger the rest through the floor! The bullseye is quite fun tagging then hiding round a wall while your bullets fly off to the target. Hailstorm is great but not enough ammo for it at the moment, the "dump all your ammo were you are and let the bullets fly off" ability is useful but it clears the whole weapon out! The jeep part is good fun even though i got carried away driving it about ( Must be the motorstorm!). Cant wait to finish it and go through a second time to get all the extra weapons!

What one wins? Diet Pepsi or Muhammed Ali? One's a refreshing low sugar beverage and one is an old boxer... It could be a damn good fight, assuming the Pepsi is alive and in some sort of robot suit?

Surely the best quote on OCUK this year? :D :D

So good I had to sig it :o

post was very spot on apart from details on online, ranking system is a bit crap, i was playing resistance and i was doing a ranked match where you only get 2 lifes and the last player alive wins, this is how the ranking worked out, the player that won the game had 1 kill and 1 death, that 1 kill was me (he camped until everyone died and just me and him were left) and his 1 death was by me, i had 7 kills and 2 deaths everyone else had a max of 2 kills with their 2 deaths, so this noob who had just camped and killed nobody till i was the only player left got 205 points and i who had single handedly killed everything in sight and eliminated most people just to be killed by this camper only got 150 points when i had 7 times his kills, he got 1 kill and got 200 points i got 7 kills and got 150 i felt so enraged by this i nearly smashed the controller, anyway i turned the console off.

theres no headset, well not yet anyway, i tried usiny my nokia bluetooth but battery only lasts 5 mins - i think its dead, no voice communications at all. i would have loved to abuse that camper so much that he tried to commit suicide with the power cord.

the game is amazing online but its let down in some aspects, deathmatch isnt about skill its about finding a big group and blowing them up, matchmaking is very poor, you cant choose 40 player ranked games, the online system is all very poor, ranking takes hours to update same with ribbons, if resistance was on the 360 i would say its possibly the best online console game made, but its let down by sonys very poor online service which i hate to tell you all will never improve i looked at home and it looks like a gimmick

i am suprised just how bland RFoM looks. it was supposed to be graphically good according to the reviews but it looks distinctly average. Poor in comparison to Gears.
The lighting and textures are very simplistic.

Only played about half an hour on resistance so far, at the moment it doesn't even come close to GoW. Graphics wise it's leagues behind gears, gameplay is solid, if a little underwhelming.

One thing I noticed on Resistance was that there doesn't seem to be any music in the background when playing. There's the odd sound effect/explosion, but there are times when I can stand sill and it's pretty much silent, takes away from the atmosphere somewhat.

yea it does look a bit crap... voted for gears on that thingy, seems like the majority of people agree with me!!!! gears wins this one it seems

Eurogamer re-reviewed the game giving it a lower score, 6/10 after they have played it more they realised the AI was terrible, the level design was bland and a few other points. I think the art direction in GoW is much better.

i havent played Rfom, or even seen any screenshots - but it wont take much to bit the disapointment that is GoW - amazing graphics, no denying.... but crap stroy, crap weapon balance, crap online.... :o

Dude...I'm really shocked at what you've just said. I've never had as much fun playing an online game as I have with GoW.

Loved the single-player campaign of GoW. Hated multiplayer. I don't like how serious people take it. It's a GAME, FFS! RFoM single-player is a bit monotonous in parts thanks to long gaps between checkpoints (why do they do that?)

So, RFoM is much better online, IMHO. I had such a blast with this and MotorStorm over the weekend.

GOW is great in co/op love it, not really tried multiplayer but from what I read its not the best/friendliest of community's on Live :D

Think the problem is on easy the AI of the chimera varies a lot, but on the higher ones they are quiet smart many times they have run past a door fired in general direction then wait for you to move from cover run round and shoot you from a side path or i meet them when i was going round the same side passage! It depends on the creature some are just stupid run at you some like i say try to be a bit tactical. Im sure at one point they sent a menial through a door when i was pinned down to get me to move.
