GParted / Partition Magic

Hi guys,

Got a 750gb in a new build that I wanted to partition, post-windows 7 installation, I thought GParted / Partition Magic would be the easiest option as I've used them both in the past but upon booting into each program I get the same error prompt (something about gpt iirc) that gives me a yes/no options pane. The drive is then determined to be 'unallocated'.

The drive was formatted during the os install to ntfs and once I've restarted, boots back into windows fine? Any ideas

Was the drive yet to be 'initialised'?

I use Parted Magic it has Gparted as part of it, plus a ton of other tools
