GPS help needed - quite urgent

Hi

I use a garmin sat nav for bike touring and for the last 5 years GPS visualizer has been brilliant at converting a Google maps url into a gpx file which is then copied onto the garmin device and works wonderfully.

I'm taking the gf on her first bike tour today (just a 50 mile one night mini tour) and to my horror I can no longer convert the files!

I get an error saying: "due to Google reducing their quota you now need an API key to proceed, enter API key below".

I've done some googling and created a Google console account but quickly lost my depth, I really haven't a clue how to get this API key. I'll pay for it if need be.

I tried an alternative convertor site but it too has been struck by this quota issue.

Please can someone help me get an API key?

Just fiddling around on the Google cloud console, I think it's something to do with credentials but I really don't know what the devil I'm actually doing

Does sending straight from google maps to your Garmin not work? Such as this https://itstillworks.com/load-google-maps-garmin-5150987.html

All sorted, unable to create gpx file from googlemaps but on my desktop machine was able to create an API key via the console.

Routes now on the device and we're off!

Ridewithgps creates GPX files. I use it for cycling most weekends

Thanks I'll look at this next time as an alternative to GPS visualizer
