GPS on N95

The two most common ways to fix this problem...

1) open the slider

2) go outside

If you've already done both of those, I apologise, but a good 95% of people who can't seem to get it working forget one or the other :)

hehe im an idiot.

you mean open the camera slider??

i've done that and still nothing, maybe im not waiting long enough??

Stick it on a window ledge or outside and leave it perfectly still while you go and have a cup of tea. When you get back, if you are lucky, you will have a lock :)

It's very hit and miss, and moving at all, even at walking pace is enough to prevent it getting an initial lock. It's fine once it's locked on though so hopefully it's something they can fix in a future update.

Yeah, the GPS lock takes ages.
It helps to go into tools-GPSdata and try to get a lock from there. If you then select options-satellite status, you can see the GPS trying to get a lock. Once 3 of the bars turn black you'll get a lock!

The keypad should be open, and the phone held at an angle of about 45 degrees. Then hold it there for somewhere between a minute and 17 years and it should find a lock.

Open the keypad slider (nothing to do with the camera), and hold the phone at 45 degrees. You preferably need to be outside and away from a large building, but inside can sometimes work if you are close to a large building with a clear view of quite a bit of the sky. You then need to hold the phone as still as possible for at least 30 seconds and probably closer to a minute or so. Bear in mind that 30 seconds is actually quite a bit longer than you'd think to stand holding a phone! If you follow these instructions I've not had a problem locking on anywhere. You certainly shouldn't expect it to work if you have the phone closed in your pocket while you're walking around!
