GPS, What else do I need?

Stupid question now.

Do I just plug the CF GPS into my CF slot on my iPaq, I don't need a jacket or anything?

If it has a CF slot, then yeah thats all you do You wont notice anything on the IPAQ screen, tomtom will just have a CF_GEN option under "other cable gps" (i use a CF GPS receiver)

I'd still go for BT over CF. Lets you use it with other equipmment in the future (e.g. Mobile phone) rather than only using it with the iPaq.

Iain, I setup that same PDA with a BT77 reciever. It's bluetooth and the battery lasts for (apparently) up to 30 hours, it never went flat on me so I don't know exactly . You can pick them up off the well known auction site for about £40, they also come with a car charger which is handy, as well as being able to track 16 satelites.

I'm thinking of changing my BT receiver for a CF one becuase I'm stick of ensuring two devices are charged..

I've just got rid of my PDA. I now use tomtom on my spv c550 phone along with my BT receiver. It's so much easier having a phone that does satnav as well

I have both (my phone is a PDA also) and i let it run on the separate PDA, why?

Because its a PITA when in london or other hectic city trying to nav when the phone bloomin rings and you need to answer it Separate devices = win

Do you need to subscribe to some sort of GPS company or does that all come with the tomtom software?

GPS is free for all. There is no subscription
