GPU Advice

Yeah I do game at 1080p. I use dual monitors but only when working as I disable the second display when I game.

The main reason for the upgrade is to play the dog fighting module of star citizen at the end of the month.

^ Dont you always hear that though and 'sometimes' it turns out you dont ;)

The 3gb card might be better for this game, since there is a graphic setting called "unlimited video memory" that improves the graphics. That's what im told anyway. I don't play the game myself so cannot confirm if the above is true. Just trying to help out with a suggestion rather than be a smart ass, like you.

There may be some caching going on here, but 2gb in this game is borderline so the website says that the above chart comes from.

Matt is correct in what he is saying. I play the game and indeed it has the unlimited memory option. Based on that AMD might be your best choice to go unless you can afford an 780.

I must admit I was cheap with my PSU its an alpine 600w JSP-600P12N (not 700) .

I forgot to mention my Motherboard is an Asus P8 P67 Pro.

That should be fine with a 280X (based on the specs from the link below) but id not risk anything more powerful. Never heard of that psu if im honest, but a google brings this up lol.

If those comments are to be believed, might be worth upgrading that as well. :D

Never heard of them myself. Like LtMatt said upgrade your psu as well. Never go cheap on a PSU. That's the most important part of a PC.

So many people still don't consider the PSU that important when as already said, it is the most important part of your pc! You should be able to get a decent psu and the 280x for around the £300 mark.
