Thanks all, I have just ordered this. Had to do it by phone in the end as I had some issue with the verification process.

All installed now.

I ran the bench mark on 1080p on Ultra setting with unlimited video memory selected.

Very happy with this card my 560gtx would struggle on the benchmark.

Glad you are happy with your choice mate. I just thought the extra ram the 280 offered over the nvidia for this game served you better!
 
Anand have the 280x at 50.7

and the 770 at 51.8 :p

At ultra settings etc so my Guess was way out anyway :)

49 fps on rome is not to be sniffed at. Enjoy your game.
 
That's a pretty odd result OP, both the 280X and the 770 are supposed to get ~40 FPS with ~32 minimum, yet your managing 3.3FPS less than Kaaps 290X, you sure you didn't leave any of the GPU settings lower by accident?

NVM it seems performance has been boosted across the board since the chart ltmatt linked.

They also have a note saying it's XFX ;)

Their XFX 280X is also clocked at only 1000mhz. That's 50mhz lower than a 7970 and lower than most normal 280X's. Compare that to the card the OP bought which is at 1100, 10% faster and on current drivers. Anand also did not bench at the highest settings unlike the OP.
 
I've just tried it again with with 16x Anisotropic set and also enabled Vegetation Alpha and enable the depth of field to high. After changing these 3 it dropped to 42.9 FPS.
 
Omg shut up already, try to shoot someone down when everything I have said is true, yet no one other than kaapstad owns the game and has no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks to pdhenin for being honest and posting a higher setting bench or else I probably would have been shot.

I don't get the lol about xfx either?
 
Erm I own the game but no point me putting my fps up as I game at 1440p and have a GTX780!

pdhenin - These are optional extras in the game and only turn on when you want them too, there are a few others that you manually have to turn on too!

tbh I'm really happy with the card, glad that I can play the game without the constat Video memory low warning on every loading screen.

Your input was spot on tbh so no probs there, I have a 780 too and own the game and use 1920x1200, it's the norm for my vram to peak at 1800 in this game so 2gb is enough, That was my point
