Gpu advice

use 2 pcie cables from the psu and plug only one set of connectors from each cable into a power connector on the gpu. So at the end of a pcie cable you will combine one set 6+2 to make 8 and plug that it, and do the same with the other pcie cable

The mobo slot provides 75W of power, and a pcie 8 pin can provide 150W. If you use one pcie cable and both 6+2 pin connections, it's called daisychaining, but doesn't stop the fact each 8 pin connector now sharing 1 pcie cable delivering 150W of power, so 225W max. By having 2 pcie cables and ignoring the daisychain you get 375W(150+150+75) power delivery to the card, and as from link below when testing the Strix 6750XT, they recorded a power spike up to 376W and general draw of 271W while gaming). If you had just used the one cable, the extra juice the gpu would try and pull would lead to problems like massive framerate drops, freezing of screen and crashes etc

Thank you again guys. GPU arrived today and have my 2nd pci cable connected to power supply so will have to see how it goes if I get chance to fit it over the weekend. I know I said just one more question and apologies as I just thought of something else pretty important that I am, again, ignorant about and need to ask. As I'm going from a gtx 1060 to an AMD card a friend told me that just uninstalling my Nvidia drivers won't really cut it. Does anybody have instructions on what else/ what I would have to do differently to transition to the new GPU?

You should uninstall Nvidia drivers turn off remove your 1060 , install Amd gpu start up and once in Windows download the latest Amd drivers and install.

You could actually download AMD drivers before the above.

Ddu is a program the will fully uninstall all drivers .

Should be alright to just uninstall. If you have any problems use DDU as linked above.
