GPU Charts: Normalized Performance Rating

Thank you for the. I want to upgrade from a 8800GT to a Radeon HD5870 (when I can find one that's actually in stock) and according to those charts I get a net increase of 158% in terms of performance which is exactly the kind of leap in speed I want to get when upgrading my hardware.

interesting...

Would be good to have some stats with say 2x overclocked 5870's + water blocks and 1 overclocked 5970 with waterblock and then work out a value / performance index.

Just reinforces what a good buy a 5870 was for £300. Better and cheaper than all those SLi/crossfire configs way below it!

Interesting chart but I disagree with some of the placings. A 4870 above an GTX275 and a 4890 above a GTX285?

In about 10% of tests maybe.

Well my 3870 x2 is in about the right place.. heh..

These are actually very nifty, while I'll continue to do my own research its a handy guideline. I especially like the upgrade guidance saying go 2-3 above your current rating.

Moving from 2 watercooled GTX280's (model 1) to 1 watercooled 5970 (model 2):

Model 2 performance is +38.55%
and cost is -26.67%
.
Model 2 is a+65.22% improvement! (cost vs performance)

I'm planning on Crossfiring two 5870's or using a single 5970... I'd see 300% (ish) performance boost over my current 8800GTX apparently...

Hmmm...
