gpu for 3 monitors for work only

looking on auction site i've come across HP Quadro4 NVS280 64MB Dual Monitor PCI graphics card + Dual DVI cable. does this sound like it'd do what i want if sat alongside my current GPU?

wont link directly but item number: 380396266821

May not work. It's an Nvidia card and you've had problems with an ATI card and Nvidia trying to run nicely together before. Not sure if it was asked before, but what OS are you running? Vista doesn't like different cards running in the same system so maybe grab another cheap 5570 to run with your 5570. Just don't run them in crossfire mode and you'll have three monitors in extended mode.

EDIT: What 400w PSU do you have by the way?

Not 100% sure. Your old board might also be causing the problem. I think the safest bet so far is to try get a single card solution. And looking at the 5570 on OcUK, it's £80

Maybe the best option is to buy this card as it has Displayport. So connect one monitor by DVI, another by HDMI, and the VGA one to the Displayport with a Displayport to VGA adapter.

You can then try sell off your 5570 to try get some money back.

Even if you can get a 5450, you're looking at £30 for that, and £20 for the active adaptor. The £75 for that card isn't too much more.

There may be other etailers that have a better selection of low-end AMD cards.

Note, that card has a low profile bracket. might bw worth checking if it has a normal one aswell ^^^

Ok i am going to ask the question and reveal my stupidity.
I thought low profile referred to the card itself, not the bracket, meaning the card was smaller than many having a low profile and therefore fitting small cases easily, rather than the actual bracket being any different. Am i wrong?

there are two sizes:

low profile cards are 'half height', but height here means the size of bracket that fits on the outside of the computer case.

Cards have a length: how deep they go into the case,
a width - how many slots they take up,
and height - the size of the bracket where you plug in video cables.

(Calling it 'height' leads to confusion - in older cases, the card would be plugged into a horizontal motherboard, and so the card would stick up vertically, and that bracket would be vertical. These days, the bracket is usually horizontal.)

It's possible for a half-height/low profile card to be a two slot width card, and its possible for a single slot card to be a full height card that doesn't fit in small cases.

gone with a 5450 and display adapter. sure hope it works. i'd have gone with the more expensive one but if this works i wont ever see the benefit of paying another £25. £25 seems like little money but when the credit card is £2k in debt and onl £40 in current account you got to watch every penny
