Hiya guys my friend is looking for a new Graphics card to go with his FX 4100 bulldozer processor, he's looking around 200-300 pounds what do you suggest? :D He plays WOW at 1920x1080 and is looking for a card to run ULTRA 40 FPS +

No point spending all that money on a card if strictly speaking he only plays WoW, my GTX 560 runs WoW on Ultra and 4x AA with a constant 60fps (V-sync on) and 70-100 FPS with V-sync off.

WoW is much more CPU dependant than GPU, so if that's all he plays, then he could save a few quid and go for a mid-range card.

I don't believe you, I have a 1gb 6950 and with everyone Ultra with 4AA I get 60 constant in most area's but not orgimmar or stormwind so please justify :D

Well he just said to me he'll plan to play Battlefield 3 and Portal 2 etc. So if I was to go from a AMD 955 3.2Ghz to a I5 2500K 4.4Ghz I'd see a massive increase on WOW? if so I'm upgrading to Sandybridge.

People will ALWAYS need to upgrade their CPU if they want better frame rate for WOW, thanks to it being pretty much a single-threaded game. And no...for someone that play WOW (or other mmos that use less than 4 cores) a lot, the i5 2500K is definitely worth it.

You would see an improvement, but I echo the above comment about it not being worth it just for WoW. Tone down some of the details (shadows particularly).
