GPU for crysis

Is there a system available at the moment that can play Crysis with everything set to max (with 8x AA) at 1920x1200 at 30+ FPS on all levels?

Not sure about 30+ fps everywhere with everything ramped up. Wouldn't be supprised if it were possible. Question is, is Crysis really worth it?

It looks nice and all, I prefered Warhead tbh.

i think the lowest i dropped to was to 28 or 34, dunno been a long while since i've bothered playing it (spec in sig)

i'll play through some of it tmoz and give you a more accurate answer

8x AA is wasted imo on such a resolution, the difference in image quality is almost negligable. With 2xAA an ATI 5870 or GTX480 would just about manage 30fps, if supported by a fast system and some overclocking.

The only safe bet really is the ATI 5970.

I don't think so, I have waited until I had a 5870 to play crysis. I played it on veryhigh, 1920x1200 and no aa and it struggled at times, but was good most of the time.

I guess maybe 5970, 480sli 5870 sli may do the job, not sure about the AA though

Dunno about all levels as havent played the game much at all but i get just over 50fps on those settings (1920x1200 v.high,64bit,dx10,8xAA) when benching the timedemo

480 SLI or 5870 SLI or 5970 overclocked to 850 on the cores. I'm sure these setups will give you a min of 30 FPS on all levels, exception maybe the last one on the carrier.

Should be renamed to "GPUs required to play Crysis"
On your resolution you are looking at a 5970 or either a crossfire/sli setup, which just for Crysis isn't worth it.

well if u drop the AA that is not really needed in crysis im sure 5870 will handle it fine depends on the rest of the system

480GTX can average above 30FPS but at it's lowest point drops to 23-25FPS ... for the most part it's playable as it runs 90% of the time at aboe 30FPS .. it only drops off lower during very demanding sequences.

why some people want a gpu just for 1 game????

If you can build a box that can play Crysis at full wack on a single GPU now it's a fairly sure fire way of future proofing.

In theory the box will handle a few years of releases at full wack & then when the GPU starts to struggle you can either except lower settings or throw in another GPU and run SLI ...

years of gaming fun to be had due to the foresight of building a system to current extremes of gaming demands.

This is what I get from my GTX 480 @ 16xAA and everything on full on Crysis Warhead. :)

Fly through/pre-recorded benchmarks mean nothing in crysis performance, gameplay tells a different story, expect way lower FPS in game on some levels depending on what's going on, on screen.

The game plays very nicely and looks stunning with high levels of AA (TR-SSAA x2 is also applied in the drivers). How else are people meant to gauge how good a card can play crysis without using the benchmark as some sort of reference?

I get this in crysis benchmark tho it would only allow me to pick aa 8x

*EDIT* rig is in sig

there is an 'assault beachhead' benchmark for crysis which replays graphically intense gameplay.

I'm on my travels at the moment but I will bench this on Friday when I'm home to see how 8xAA in 1920 very high stands up in gameplay bench as opposed to fly through. I have run the demo mod and it seemed to be smooth but I didn't bench the FPS

worth noting that I have also played with natural mod 8xAA in 1920 and that also runs smooth.
