well if u drop the AA that is not really needed in crysis im sure 5870 will handle it fine depends on the rest of the system

8xAA isnt needed, 4xAA would be enough and give a nice performance boost, HD5970 can easily handle that.

AA makes a huge difference in how crysis looks, the more the better. You can easily spot notice the difference between 4xAA and 8x/16x AA. Crysis is one game where high levels of AA really does shine.

and providing you have the right mods and hardware/overclocks a 5770 can do 25fps 4xAA very high

Mine couldn't, some of the earlier levels were fine, but not the later levels.

If I keep AA off and turn all the graphics settings to medium, my 5830 sails along comfortably at 1920x1200.

Your budget should dictate what card to get anyway, not a 3 year old game.

Fly through/pre-recorded benchmarks mean nothing in crysis performance, gameplay tells a different story, expect way lower FPS in game on some levels depending on what's going on, on screen.

^This, I'm fine on the benchmarks, playing the game is a different matter

I swear I played through this game on medium/high on my 7900GT/single core 939 A64 system and was pretty happy (1 gig of ram too ) at around 720p. Really got a bit slow on the later levels though!
Really not much difference between high and very high ¬_¬

I managed it fine on my old Hd3850 which was all fine until the last level where it really struggled

It runs smooth on a 5870 and the 5970, the 5850 is stuttery in some parts but the end level is always a problem.

Yea, maxishine perhaps. with uber rig. However, he gets **67 AVG** **86 MAX** and **41 MIN** in the ""Crysis Warhead 1920x1200 Enthusiast No AA""" with a Single 5970??????

I got (assuming he ran it in DX10 also):

==> Framerate [ Min: 15.44 Max: 39.44 Avg: 33.17 ] and mine ...... is totally WAYYYY down - not even half! - or as fast as the 295 even Mines a pretty old rig getting now, with old ram CPU and the like, but its not as if its a CPU test with the "enthusiast" setting ?


Someone mentioned on page 3 of this youtube vid

"Whoa wait... How the hell do you get that fps (50-90) with enthusiast hd... wtf. Ive seen other 5970 tests that show fps like 20-30

And that is about right for me - 20-30 frames.......

Ran it on an AMD 4400+ dual with 2gb ddr pc3200 ram and an 8800gtx. It wasn't until the later levels that it really struggled much at all.

Very similar apart from mine was an 8800GTS 640 which is what i'm using now and I had loads of problems I also upgraded to 4GB RAM.

Earlier levels were fine but later in the game it got incredibly choppy

i have played this game few times, on three gfx cards a 9600gso, a 4870, and a 5870, and i thought the 5870 ran it fine with x2aa @1920x1080.
