GPU has coil whine, OCUK refuse RMA

ye no worries pal.

lucky to get a great card and it probs will be sorted with different PSU.

play with headphones on so not an issue in game.

thanks everyone

No worries, feel free to give me a shout if you need anything else.

Best Regards

A like for like swap would be a 660 ti, so you've effectively jumped past the 670 to the 680, and got 4GB too. Pretty good result there.

Enabling vsync usually gets rid of coil whine.

My EVGA 670 has coil whine, but it isn't very loud.

It increases at high FPS though (for example, with vsync disabled).

Surely it is just a minor gripe considering the deal..?

yeh very fortunate .

year or so ago i contacted giga -man on here about my faulty GB motherboard that was two weeks away from its 3 year warranty running out.

he sorted me out a g1 sniper worth £350!.

G1 sniper made some horrific noises, under any load, even moving the mouse made it screech.

he said to send it back and they fixed it.

just though same would apply here.

Bit strange you got a 4gb, surely a 2gb 770 would be considered equal or greater than a 580. Might be a customer return which infact has pretty severe whine.

Find a way to upload a video, I'm curious now :D

My Titan's suffer from it under load but in fairness you can't really hear it unless you're up next to it. I've had more GPU's than I can remember and some do it less than others. I've never even considered to class it as a fault, as it's never impacted performance or failed.

i had a 3gb 580 and they cant give me a 2gb as it might be useless to me.

for all they know i could be using three monitors.

i agree, they probs were aware of the coil whine.

if i bought a titan and it had coil whine id ask for RMA or refund.

end of the day they shouldn't be making noises.

why should you pay same as everyone else for a titan and get inferior quality?

I had Coil Whine on my 7950 and it was sent back to Gigabyte directly and when I received the card back.. MY god I was horrified. I sent the card in mint condition and it came back with grease stains on it and all the front metal scuffed.....

Try splitting the load off the psu, use two Pci-e cables instead of one like so:

Totally eliminated coil whine for me with a 7970 and some others here also, unfortunately not everyone though but it's certainly worth a try.
