Hi, Im new here and wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this but here goes,

Ive had my pc for about 4 years, Had no problems up until now. I was just browsing the web when suddenly my computer shut down and wouldn't start back up again. So i unplugged the GPU from the PSU and it started up fine with no problems. Is this a GPU issue? Once its unplugged from the PSU the Graphics card lights up and the fans are spinning so I'm not sure what it is.

I can boot with integrated graphics, with the GPU slotted in but not hooked up to the power supply and the GPU seems to be running the fans are spinning and its lighted up like normal, then when i turned the pc back off hook it back upto the power supply nothing happens, All i get is a click like it wants to boot.

Any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Some info on the pc -

I7 4790K

EVGA Supernova 750w g2 PSU

MSI Z97 GAMING 5

Gigabyte G1 980Ti

If im reading this corect, you problems starts when u plug 6 or 8 pin connection ? if so you have some kind of short/or amp leakage. your psu goes into protection mode and refuses to boot.

Unfortunately, this is a job for a proffesional or a pc shop that fixes cards.

So you think its most likely the card gone?

Psu how old is it?. Try a different card if the problem still exist it’s your power supply if not it’s the gpu.

PSU is 4 years old, I'm going to try the card in another computer hopefully and see what happens.
I tried the card in a different slot as well and still nothing.

Card is not gone. It can be fixed. Changing psu wont help. I have a pretty Good idea what's wrong with it.
Unfortunately I cant PM ppl any more which is weird.
Alex if u are interested PM me if u can we can talk more. Or if u want come to my Discord (I give u info if u pm me)
