So, i've just sold my GTX ASUS 760, wanting to get 970 since the price comparison and benchmark are beautiful.

Do GPU'S ever drop in price, or is that only during when new models come out? or rarely at all. Also EVGA, Or the asus 970? which one would you say is best, and why? specifically

So, just someone answer my question..If i were to get a 390X, it would be rather pointless for my G-SYNC monitor...? since its for nvidia card compatability

Your original question was regarding GPU prices dropping. The 970 has come through a partial recall and the price didn't drop much. When Pascal releases there should be another drop, but who knows by how much.

If you have a Gsync monitor then no, it doesn't make sense to buy AMD.

Having had a 970, I wouldn't touch them.

What about 980? worth it...?

Do you have a budget ? That would be the best bet by letting everyone know what your budget is then let everyone have there input at the best card you can get for what your willing to pay :) .. I've just picked up a 290x for just less then £200 and think it's a great buy ! The noise doesn't bother me of the fan as I game with headphones :)

I don't really have a budget, I just wanted to get rid of my 760 and get a upgrade, it was running fine on all games, but I just wanted something stronger haha. and I thought the benchmarks I saw online for 760 vs 970 for price comparison was great... but now im hearing its a card not worth getting?

so 980 EVGA it is?

I'm assuming you're gaming at 1080p? If so, then yes the 980 is the card to get IMO. Sure if you have the money, go for a 980Ti but I would expect it to sit at 50-75% usage @60 fps in most games. The 6GB of Vram would barely be stretched at 1080p.

Some titles will push the 4GB at that res, which is why I say 980 over 970. If money is tight, second hand 980s are going for under £300.

1080p yeah...

6GB vram and generally quite a bit more powerful;p Around 970SLI performance, I guess. And a very decent clocker, too.

If you can go the whole hog the by all means get the 980Ti.

Otherwise, if you can snag one for under £300, get a 980 as String suggested.

What im Worried about, there isnt any games, that I play, or will play that will use advantage of the 980TI power..might just bid on ebay for a used 970 SC one
