Do you feel as though the games you're playing are lacking in some way at the moment?

What resolution do you play at?

A 480/495GTX? So you're planning on waiting 6 months for these to appear only to be pretty poor with minimal DX11 support? If you can get another £500 in 4 months then get the CPU upgrade now, if not then a graphics upgrade to either the ATI HD58xx series or 59 will do well, that CPU still holds up well compared to newer tech.

Or if you're not really struggling to play any game, don't upgrade :D

i usually play at 1680x1050, ocasionally play on 50" TV at the same res (mainly for my boy to play need for speed shift).

I didnt relise nvidia are that far behind on the release date thought it was ment to be end of march.

What i dont want is to play any new game below max settings, so GPU the MOST important thing?

Won't I be in danger of bottlenecking it if I get the 59xx/480gtx??

Ultimately there's no point in upgrading until you have trouble playing what you want to play. If it's just for NFS, then I would imagine what you have should easily play at 'max settings'.

So, once you get a game that you can't play at 'max', only then would I recommend starting a thread and we can point you in the right direction, based on the available tech at that time.

(unless I've totally misunderstood this thread and you are getting slowdowns, in which case please post where the problems are :p)

I don't see the obsession with playing at "Max"

I cannot play Crysis max, but a mixture of High-Medium is smooth as pickle and is exceptionally enjoyable.

I realise some people like just to set every game they get to Max and be done with it, but do you have to spend on new stuff when you can at least paly the game in the first place?
