GPU - 2gb Gigabyte 960 windforce OC

Hi i've just started having problems with this card the past 12 hours.

Problem started when playing Motorsport Manager, my monitor suddenly lost signal and i had to hit reset button, When the system shut down and was started again picture to screen came back. Tried the game again to see if it was a one off but again it happened.

As a process of elimination I ran skyrim and when loading my last save my screen lost signal again but resumed 3 seconds later.

I have noticed in the past whilst playing counter strike GO my screen would go purple until I jiggle the monitor cable. But never had no signal problem until today.

I've had overheating problems before on other systems, which resulted in a forced shutdown so I'm thinking its not heat. And I've only ever had 1 GPU break before and that showed no signs until no picture one day on boot up.

Another thing that 20 minutes ago my screen went no signal and it never came back on. I left my computer for 15 min and it worked again :S

One last thing, my card has 2x dvi ports, if it is an issue with port 1 is there a way to enable port 2 to work instead.

Thanks for reading and sorry for the lame question, I can put a computer together but i'm not tech savvy so i'm completely useless when things go wrong.

purple until you jiggle a cable? sounds like a problem there, download something to monitor your temps. also check the power connections if your card has them

I've tried different gpu power leads, and my temps we're highs of 42C on cpu and using gpu-z i could see only 32c whilst playing skyrim, but the screen loses signal so i can't see temps after that.

what cable do you have? possibility the cable connection could be going or the dvi port is going on your card....easily way to test with a cable.

Hey thanks for the advice guys, Problem is solved, Removed my PSU and looking through the vent slots i could see 1 blown capacitor. I'm guessing that it was able to run my system, but when i loaded it by playing games it was unable to handle it, and shut off power to my GPU.

Ordered from overclockers a cougar 800w supply which when i received it today I was totally impressed, just by looking in the box. Cougars attention to detail is unreal.

Anyhow fitted it today, and no more loss of signal on my monitor.

However.....

When I first booted up my mouse cursor stopped working, Tried absolutely everything to resolve this problem, and when i say stopped working, this was only in windows. Searched the forums for advice, and was at my witts end when none of it worked. If I had a gun handy I would have walked in the street and shot someone just for an ounce of happiness.

But whilst my morale was at rock bottom and my patience shot from navigating with the keyboard, I had a thought, DRIVERS. Updated drivers and my cursor springs back to life.

Thing is, after 2 hours scourring forums it was the basics I should have tried first.

Oh well, alls well that ends well.

Ty again for contributing to this post.
