***GPU PSU Power Usage Thread***

Yeah course I can :)

I'm sure I've got a meter somewhere. No doubt it'll turn up if I buy a new one! I'll have a rummage :) problem is most of my stuff is in boxes because I'm trying to move house :/

Hi,

I posted this in psu thread before seeing this topic and figured I will probably get more response from here hopefully.

I have a Corsair 750W gold RM series about 7 months old. I have a an i5 4670k overclocked to 4.5 Ghz. I currently have an Asus R9 290 DCII installed and was wondering if the PSU would be able to handle the R9 290 gigabyte OC edition that is arriving today. I use it for arma 3 mostly.

What would be the effects of me trying the 2 cards on that psu out? Will it fry everything if it cant cope?

If the psu isn't enough I'll just sell the card as it's an RMA anyway so don't really need two. Just bought the other one incase I was waiting a long time!

If you need any other info just ask.

Thanks

Thanks. I haven't got it overclocked at the minute so will probably keep them at stock having two of them. Just keep the cpu overclocked.

Going to try it in a bit as its just arrived. Will let you know how I get on!

Did you want the peak wattage?

Peak = 620w

Can and will run everything again to double check + when on water can use the volts without being a pansy.

Thx chaps will update once i've had a play ;) and yes T peak, a stock run would be nice too, cant believe that little psu is holding up!!

@ matt, as i dont know much about the latest AMD cards and there OC potential, what would you consider being an average good clock OC and what if you had won the silicon lottery??

Will do a stock run in a bit, just ordering food :D
The PSU is great :p Who said you need 1kw units for a 780ti?? :p

Your only at baby volts yet :D have you messed around with the frequency yet??

Nah mate, not had time.
I also probably wont as i know it can kick up a fuss with peak draw spiking. That's enough to trip my PSU, same with the volts. Up to 1.35 will be my limit without a second one supplying at least an 8pin ;)

I know i look, smell and act stupid, totes not though :D
