Hi Guys.

back again for a possible christmas present suggestions.

i currently have a radion hd5850 and was wondering what a step up would be these days?

im struggling to think what to ask for for xmas so i may aswell upgrade my gpu

can i have some suggestions please?

firstly do i need to upgrade will i get much from it?

pricewise as long as im upgrading from my current card then that should set the mark?

My current card has 2 dvi outputs and a display port output which are all used so i can utillize 3 monitors whhich i do with a sapphire display port to dvi converter this is very important that i keep three monitors

Anything from a 7850,270 or 650ti boost and above is an upgrade.

Does this have the same display port as my 5850 so i can use 3 monitors? if not what card should i be looking at?

Forget the 270. Either the 7850 or 270X depending on budget.

Looking at the 7850 it doesnt have the correct display ports that i need,

which 270 would you look at out of this lot?

It's usually advised to get the cheaper 2GB cards at this sort of performance level. Reason is, if you're using a game with high enough settings that are using over 2GB Vram with this card, your performance would most likely be struggling anyway, whether or not you have more Vram, so it may make no difference.

You could make a point that if you were ever thinking of getting another 270X in the future to crossfire, the performance would be better than a 780. So you could kind of justify the extra 2GB, although a lot of people would still point to the 256bit bus of the 270X as the limiting factor.

It is worth noting that BF4 can already use over 2GB at 1080p Ultra settings, so maybe 3GB might become the sweet spot next year. You can get a 2GB Sapphire 270X with BF4 free for £24 less then the 4GB version which has no free game, so that's something to think about.
