GPU requirements to run 4k games at 120hz when available

It should be backwards compatible?

Companies will just need to release UHD 120hz monitors with DP 1.3 and G-sync modules.

yeah, they just have to replace the chip that provides the DP interface to the module from the current DP1.2 to a new DP1.3 one, really bizarre thing to try to say that gysnc can't possibly support DP1.3... the Gsync module is an FPGA, they can easily reprogram it to add new functionality, that is the whole point of using an FPGA over an ASIC

Am i the only one that does not have a single Mechanical drive ? I hate them with a passion. SSD or nothing for me the only place i have Mechanicals is in my servers for storage. All my games sit on SSD's but i dont have all my games installed at the same time. I tend to delete them when im not going to play them for a long time. Perks of Fibre internet i guess.

Am I the only one who only keeps the games I am currently playing on my hard drive? Why would you have 8TB of games installed? You can't play them all...

If I want to play an old game I can download it in a couple of hours.

If they use 1.3 they won't be able to sell their overpriced gsync modules anymore.

I doubt anyone will complain about lack of new ports though, it'll become a non-issue again in 6 months or so.

They'll still sell as it's backwards compatible, They'll just upgrade the newer models that need 1.3 like 4K 120Hz etc... to 1.3 :)

Personally I'll be keeping my Swift for a good while yet until Asus release a 4K 144Hz 32" G-Sync IPS display which I reckon should be around 2017 :)

Personally I have 1TB of games on my HDD, It's a specific backlog I'm working through, Saves me from downloading them at a later date ;)

I'd say sell those 980s and get a pair of 980Ti's running at 1500 each, they'll perform generally better (due to the diminishing returns of SLi). But tbh Pascal is probably 6-7 months away so not really worth the switch now...

Your build sucks though, 4x980s? Stupid.

Anything that can stress them will run out of VRAM. 2x 980ti would be a better choice, and cheaper.

Or even drop that silly 8 core CPU for a 6 core, and save some cash by halfing the ram, get rid of those SSDs, put a single 950 Pro 512GB in for booting, and a 6TB WD Black for games, use the cash you have saved and go 2x Titan X

Save some cash replacing the PSU with a Superflower (I say this as someone that owns the overpriced AX1500i) drop the blu ray rewriter.

Looks like you just went to a website, selected every most expensive option, and posted it here to pretend you were thinking about buying it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It's actually a configuration I purchased, and now happily own.

We to far away from a system that can do that. But ild never be happy with single screen, once you go triples there is no going back. 4k 120/144hz triples is even further away. But we are getting there with 144hz 5750x1080 This would be my compromise for now, and save the cash.

I think this thread has served it's purpose. Can, a member of staff lock the thread, please.

Clearly some people for no apparent reason are getting uptight for no reason. I think if I have another related question, I'll ask on another OC forum.

See ya'.
