GPU running out of memory?

If you run out of VRAM, it will grind to a halt and you will see 1 or 2 fps max.

Not sure why those textures are blurred but deffo not because of VRAM.

Use msi afterburner's OSD to monitor vram usage that way you will know if you're getting close to, or exceeding your vram limit.

Just remember Shankly you're likely seeing vram caching at 1080p as you have a 3gb card. However i believe that the OP could be exceeding a limit of 1.5gb vram, that would not cause blurry textures though.

EDIT

Christ OP is at 1440p. I'd say theres a good chance you're exceeding 1.5gig vram at that resolution.

I use HWINFO64 it gives a Maximum reading. should be the same as Msi reading you would think?

Pretty much this. FPS would drop to single digits on larger BF3 maps when i had 1GB cards. vram was getting maxed out.

Run GPU-Z in the background and tab out when you see the fps drop hard. check to see what the vram usage was at the time.

Bioshock seems to load up all available VRAM regardless of if its needed or not it keeps stuff loaded so you will see it using high VRAM amounts even if thats not the problem.

Are you using the latest drivers?

Yes I'm using the latest nVidia drivers.

Maybe reinstalling the will help?
I messed about with one of the game files as suggested on a forum to help with framerates which I believe worked, but not I've got this texture issue.

Might try a reinstall. I've got the discs & game saves are in the cloud afaik so not a big issue.

Is the game running at 1 or 2 fps? Do you have the GPU memory overclocked at all?

Edit:

I see you added to your post that you fiddled with the game files and this I would look to the reason for blurry textures. If you don't have a backup, reinstall is advisable.

I have had this problem too, I had to delete my Bioshock graphic config file, I forget where it is stored, but this fixed it for me. P.S This is with a 7950 3GB, so I don't think it is a running out of VRAM issue

No, the framerates are fine. Fraps was saying 60 most of the time.

I'm running the card at stock as any higher makes the fans ramp up quite loud.

Afterburner doesn't seem to show VRAM usage. Maybe I've got an old version?...

@ Gregster

Cheers, I will try the now and report back asap.

The guys who are saying he is running out of VRAM need to do some research into what happens when you run out of VRAM.

I would update AB, as some newer games don't have profiles.

Ok I reinstalled the game but have the same issue.
I even moved the installation to the boot drive [SSD] but it seems to have gotten worse somehow. Now when I turn around I see blurry textures which slowly become sharper.

It looks exactly like how RAGE was at launch.

Would like to upgrade the GPU but not when a new gen is potentially right around the corner.
Any new info or educated guesses on when the AMD 8000 or nVidia 7 Series cards will be out?

Late in the year or even early 2014 are the supposed dates. I have never come across blurry textures before, so can't say what that issue is. Have you tried lowering details to see if that made any difference?
