GPU U/S - replacement options

I've got the PC in my sig running a GeForce 470 OC which whilst ageing has been fine for my needs so far. I tried updating the driver a couple of days ago to 373.06 and the update crashed but display appeared fine - until running Rocket League when it crashed, and I ended up with green dots across the screen on restarting.
I've run DDU and installed the older 372.90 drivers but it's still doing the same thing.

Does it sound like hardware or is there anything else I can try?

If I'm looking at replacement I'm considering two options - either replace it with something cheap but which will be a small performance upgrade, or go for something a bit more future proof at around the £200 price point.

What are my options on that front?

As per my sig I don't think the GPU will be a massive bottleneck, although I will probably upgrade everything else in the next 12-18 months. Right now my needs are to be able to play Rocket League, BF1 etc at reasonable settings (I'm not serious enough to worry about stupidly high FPS) but the monitor is 1440p compatible (Benq GW2765HT) so it might be nice to have that option. And no idea if relevant but photo editing is another priority.

At the £200 mark I'm guessing that the RX 470 4GB is the way to go? I'm thinking about holding out for Black Friday - not sure if there'll be much discount though.

For the 'cheap as possible but slightly better than a GeForce 470' idea I've absolutely no idea. It's old tech but I really don't know where to start.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

For around £200 you could get a 4gb 480. £190 is the cheapest I've seen one. Either will be a big upgrade on a geforce 470 though.

I doubt you will see much discount on black Friday, they are still to new. Plus it's a bit of a let down in this country, no REAL bargains :/
