Hey up guys so currently my computers specs are as follows...

i5 3570k
8GB ram
HD7950 3GB

I haven't played any new(ish) titles in some time, but want to get back into playing more. I want to get games like The evil within 2, resident evil 7, next Metro game when it's released etc. The idea being this GPU would hopefully allow me to play upcoming titles (I play either sci-fi/horror shooters or RTS games) for a couple of years

My monitor is pretty old, only being 1680x1050. I'll obviously upgrade this in future though the GPU will be the first purchase, unsure how much more strain 1080p vs 1440p as to what I should upgrade to, but that's for another time.

So as in title my budget is 300 max, which seems to mean It's between the...

that said I notice the RTX 2060 at the moment is only £20 above my budget, if the difference would be particularly significant/provide better future proofing, I'll probably stretch it.

any advice folks?

this is what i'd get tbh.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £339.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

it's back up to £330, but it's regularly on sale for £300 (you just missed the latest sale). also comes with 3 free games, which you can recoup ~£30-40 if you want to sell the games.
if you want/can wait. then this is the obvious choice. it's >50% faster than a 1060 6gb/rx580, and 35-40% faster than a rx590.
only downside is that it's a power hog. so your psu must be up to the task. 550w decent psu at minimum.
it's approximately neck and neck with the 2060 and 1070ti - but with 8gb vram on the vega56, it will last longer than the measly 6gb vram on the 2060.
