Have a question i hope someone can answer. If i was to buy a new GPU say a 270, will that support DX12 and all its new features when DX12 is released ? or would you have to buy again after DX12 is released to have all the new features, what ever they may be.

Its about the same as a 670 that card the 285 by lookin at specs.

Gregster, the amd thread with the card in shows on the box dx12 for the 285 cards coming.

Interested in seeing if that is true. How do you know this? Any links?

DirectX® 12
The tessellation performance on AMD Radeon R7/ R9 series is up to 2X faster than the previous generation, and DirectCompute performance is also faster to accelerate advanced post-processing, filtering, and anti-aliasing techniques. Direct X12 games has never looked this good.

* Based on preliminary DirectX 12 specifications as of July, 2014, AMD’s GCN-based products are expected to support DirectX 12 upon its release. The DirectX 12 specification and support for it are subject to change without notice.

The low level bit of the dx12 api will be compatible with older cards so if thats the main thing ppl want i.e mantle in dx12 then no upgrade is required. Sure tho there will be a few things new hardware will help with but not needed for low level access which is mainly what ppl are wanting.

That's disappointing, I know that it'll be largely unnoticeable but I'd have liked full backwards compatibility. I read somewhere that all GCN boards will be forever fully supported by Mantle.

Still love my DHS though :-)
