GPU Upgrade?

Hey guys I was wondering if you think this is a pretty decent upgrade for the price... I purchased a GTX 460 (768 MB) in August of 2010 right after the card was released and have been happy with its performance overall...but that was over 2.5 years ago and I am looking for a budget minded upgrade.

I found a sale for $90 at MicroCenter thanks to a link here... for a GTX 560 Ti 1gb. I have been looking at a few comparison websites and it seems like a pretty good jump in performance. I just want you guys to weigh in, the card is "refurbished" but I don't think that matters much, I buy a ton of stuff used on eBay and would buy a gpu off of there in a heart beat if I found a good deal.

Also, what exactly is the "Ti" I know its Titanium (I think) but whats the difference b/t the GTX 560 and the 560 Ti really?

From what I have read in a short amount of time it seems like this card would be quite a boost over my current 460 and I find $90 to be quite reasonable.

Your thoughts are very appreciated, you guys will dictate whether or not I purchase one of these tomorrow morning!

Between the normal 460 and 560 the performance difference is quite minimal (though thats for the 1GB versions). The 560TI is an improvement but only by what 50% max?

I'd highly reccomend you look for a second hand 7850 (no idea what they are second hand in the states). That'll get you nearly double the performance increase.

What is your budget & current system?

A 560Ti or nonTi is not worth the upgrade. 2gb Vram would be your base limit really.

Please tell me you have overclocked that 460 ;)

Honestly I wouldn't bother with getting anything less than a 2GB GPU now. The 7850 is £150ish here brand new and considering it comes with TombRaider and Bioshock Infinite aswell you really can't complain......you can sell your 460 off afterwards someone will want it I'm sure.

I honestly have no idea how to overclock a GPU, I have a good bit of experience overclocking my CPU though... would you mind helping?

Same principle really you have to watch the temps. Try to keep it going no higher than 80 degrees.

Download MSI afterburner. You can gradually bump the clockspeed up and use Kombustor (the built in testing tool) to see if it's stable. Eventually you get to a point where the GPU is unstable, then you can consider bumping the voltage up a little to try and stablise it. Rinse and repeat keeping an eye on the GPU temps, remember more volts will up the temps

You'll find plenty of guides online. I still own a 1GB 460 and have than clocked at over 850Mhz, it still does well for gaming but DX11 titles really are starting to test it now.
