I have a MSI R7970 Lightning (Boosted Edition) and although I can increase the vCore and memory voltage in Afterburner it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I have used GPU-z and HWmonitor to monitor the voltage but it never goes over 1.256V which is the stock voltage. Is there something i'm missing?

Does the voltage increase show in afterburner monitor? Gpuz etc...won't read above stock voltage on the lightnings, I tested this with the v check points :)

Sorted, always the simple things lol. Added the GPU voltage to the monitor and it shows the increased voltage :)

Have you got your replacement card yet? Have they told you which one your getting.

No problem with my card, the motherboard BIOS was playing up for some reason. After I reset it, all has been well which is why I started overclocking the card. Stock cooler works very well, not gone over 65 deg C during benchmark runs and thats with the vCore and memory voltages increased.

That question was aimed at pgi947 ;)

Your temps seem about right, about the same as what I get with mine from what I recall.

It's actually sat at home waiting for me, was delivered today :D

Not a clue which version though, was sent from msi via ocuk so presuming it's standard.

I thought the same about the voltages which is why I used the v check to see what the actual readings were :)

Long as I can get around the 1300mhz mark I'll be happy, I'll see what it can do at 1.3v tonight, hopeful it should be around the 1290mhz mark on air.

I tend to get lucky with all chips :p

I'll be putting up a post tonight about my msi rma experience to give others some much needed confidence back in msi, I'll stick some rough clocks up in there.

Big time...

I sent away, my Lightning complete with original box and manuals, all connectors and accessories, all slot protectors (4 x DP, 2 x DVI, 2 x CF & 1 x PCI) and in return I got...

A small plain box saying "MSI Graphics Card" on the front with just a lightning inside, no accessories, no slot protectors no nothing, just a card in an ESD bag packed with some foam, not even an indication of what the card is, for all I know it could be a 680 Lightning!

Not very happy at all, back to CS I suppose.

If it doesn't work I'm going to choke someone with this card.

Its a strange one, I just don't see how they have managed this tbh, at least this is an indication my card has been repaired and not replaced - something else I'm in the dark on.

Shocking from MSI. I thought they were good guys??

Not only did it take a long time, to send it back like this is poor.

It is indeed :(

I have the S/N of my last Lightning registered with my MSI account on the MSI Members center...which has been completely down for a good week or so. I'll stop hijacking this thread and start another complete with some pics of my awesome replacement packaging.

I must stress OcUK (especially Bailey) have been fantastic throughout all of this and no doubt will help me get this sorted too. Just
