GPU Waterblock install

Anyone know if overclockers or any other places would install a waterblock on gpu if purchased both components from them?

I was going to get one of the gigabyte waterforce wb which are pre installed but seems for some reason the cards suffer from bad coil whine whereas the air cooled ones are ok from what I have read.

If they don't pretty sure there'll be a service for it, if you Google long enough.

And I've seen some vids of silent and noisy waterforce wb so probably just GPU lotto.

Maybe worth a punt then I guess I can always RMA.

Just don't want to risk the install of a block on a 2k + card, the last install i attempted cost me a new gpu :D

Yeah good reasoning tbh, and also the fact you can rma and don't void warranty is a huge plus. I'll be keeping an eye out for a Waterforce WB also if I see it at the right price. Considering my first custom loop potentially.

What are you looking at getting?

I ended up doing one of the EK hardline shop the loop builds as it took out the difficulty of choosing parts. I just bought what it said.

Been good, think the other brands are recommended more now though with the whole EK saga.
I have the palit gamerock non oc model if I want to do it, was just doing some extra reading about the air and liquid models before deciding what to do next. Suprim soc air is quieter than the liquid in terms of fan rpm on silent bios, as I've already experienced that and it was acceptable fan noise, unfortunately kept black screening during use for me so had to return it.

The Palit fans are annoying if I don't have the rest of my case matching the rpm to drown it out a bit better. my issue having never done it before is making sure I buy all the right parts  and seems like one of the waterblocks I need is out of stock unless I buy one from China, not sure what the best solution is really.

Maybe I should do the same as you, as I just want peace of mind, of knowing everything I bought will work together.

I did get the Palit at a price however where all the additional costs will end up matching suprim soc near enough if I go in that direction. Perhaps I should make a post, someone did reply to me with their set up, but it was for the ventus, not sure if I could use all the same parts and just switch the waterblock used, guess I'll ask.

You could always do a shop the loop and just take the parts list then swap out the parts for other makes.

Or post your case and components and I'm sure people would be able to help finalise a parts list, I ended up with a fair few fittings spare in the end where I over ordered.

Def worth weighing up the pros and cons too, whilst I like the end result in terms of aeshetics, cooling & noise levels - any troubleshooting & upgrades become a bit of a pain.

Ironically I have found it has saved me money, as usually I would swap out components far more often.

Yeah I'd probably get a 9950x3D if I go ahead with it, so I'd only be changing the GPU in a couple of years.

I came across the following for my case -

Bykski Distro Plate Kit For Phanteks NV7 Case, 5V A-RGB Complete Loop For Single GPU PC Building, Water Cooling Waterway Board, RGV-PHA-NV7-P

That looks decent definitely made it a lot easier for me using a distro plate and you can buy the pre bent tubing which means you just have to cut to right length.

Can't see why ocuk wouldn't if you
buy them from there
How much they might charge you to
Fit the block though
Have no idea at all but for someone who is
Experienced at fitting blocks on gpu
Can't see it taking more than
Up to an hours labour

Could always send them a web note
And ask them

What went wrong last time you tried?

Not 100% sure to be honest.

I think I damaged one of the mounting threads and the contact was an issue and temps weren't right - when I first fired up I got display.

I then took it back apart to check and re do with a replacement waterblock then couldn't get a display output.

Yeah if its went wrong once
Can see why you wouldn't want to attempt it
On something as expensive as something like
A 5080,5090 etc given how expensive they are

Ocuk have plenty experience in watercooling builds
Would definitely prefer they do it
Than some local pc shop

If its over a couple of grand
You may get lucky and they do it free to get the sale
Who knows
But costs nothing to send a web note
Or phone them and ask

Spoke to overclockers they don't offer the service.

So I'm kinda stuck - the gigabyte wb card apparently suffers really bad coil whine.

To be honest it may have just been bad luck with that block just take it nice and slow and dont tighten up till your sure the card is sitting correctly and double check the pads as somtimes it easy to fit wrong thickness that warp card enough that it dont boot

Im not sure if it was this forum or another this guy did not pay attention to screw lenths and screwed into capacitor luckly he soldered a new one and revived his card so accidents happen to the best of us

A little tip for something you can try to help lining up the block to the card when it comes to it. What I do is put the block face down on a desktop with a towel underneath, so that the screw holes are pointing up, then put the plastic stalks from some cotton buds in all the block screw holes, such that they stick in the holes and and pointing up. Then, with the card, after you've put the pads and compound on it, you hover over the stalks from above and slowly lower it down using the stalks as a guide through the holes in the card. This ends up with it being perfectly aligned with the screw holes. Then you just pull the stalks out. Done this every time I've done a GPU block.

No but alphacool have clear instructions and quite a few have installed them with good results.

Make sure they're both compatible, alphacool have released different versions of the block and MSI have released different SKUs of the Ventus, I remember people on Reddit having a headache a little while ago.

edit: MSI cards also have a warranty sticker.

Ah good to know. Which card would you recommend that doesn't have a warranty sticker? Only real aims are a card with little to no coil whine, although appreciate this can vary. I'll aim to test it first with stock cooler before changing to the block.
