GPU Weight....

I understand what you are saying, but there must be a maximum acceptable weight for a GPU, on a PCIe slot ?

There probably is in some random spec somewhere, some motherboard manufacturers have been reinforcing them with metal around them due to the weight of cards. Whether that actually makes a difference or is just aesthetic I've no idea =/ I don't think anyone thought cards would ever get as ridiculous as they are in terms of sheer mass.

And I presume its mainly the one's with the custom coolers, that have this problem or do you still get sagging from reference cards as well ?

Reference can sag slightly but as they're lighter its usually negligible. The real culprits are the cards that come on a pallet strapped to thirty horses with a guy lashing them with a whip to deliver it to you.

The Inno3D air chills are heavy. I have had the 980 and now the 1080 and they are heavy. But the back plate really helps and if it is screwed into the case properly, there is no problem or sag.

Also the 1080 X4 iChill is extremely quiet, even at 100% fans.

Asus went and created a gpu reinforcement bracket and plonked it on the 980 ti strix and the 980 ti matrix, ultimately it did bugger all and the cards still sagged. Pretty sure they didn't bother with a "reinforcement bracket" with the 1080 series.

From what I have read the Gigabyte G1 Gaming is a light card, maybe worth a look?

I'd be happy to whip mine out (MSI Gaming X 1070) and weigh it if you like? I also have a Palit Dual 1060 which is pretty much the same as the 1070 version I could weigh as well :D

Thanks for offering to weigh it, but I actually managed to find out the MSI card weighs 998g...

Not a 1070 but had my Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1080 out earlier, on my kitchen scales is shows as 834g.
