GPU will only work PCI-E 2.0x16

Hello,

A few days ago I downloaded and ran GPU-Z and discovered that my GPU is only running at Gen2 even with the render test running.

Details as follows:-

ASUS P9X79 Deluxe MB with BIOS Version 3305 and Gen 3 is selected in the BIOS.

GPU is MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition 2048MB and I have done a clean install of Driver Ver 314.22.

Also found the following link and tried that but it made no difference.

I have also tried an EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti but again this made no difference.

I tried to copy GPU-Z screenshot but don't know how to do that.

Just wondering if someone can help or point in the right direction.

You have to install the nVidia X79 PCI-E 3.0 Patch to enable it.

And when installing remember to right click on the file and choose "run as administrator" else it doesn't install correctly and after that you need to reboot the pc.

Just remember to install the patch again when you update your graphics drivers.

I tried that link but did not "run as administrator", I have been pulling my hair out the last couple of days.
