GPUGrid Challenge

I've been rooting around the stats and found the following:

As of 07:45 this morning, Italy are way in front and unreachable, we are holding on to 2nd place marginally in front of Australia with the Germans not too far behind. Italy have 17 users who have submitted results, Australia have 21, Germany have 29 and we have 7. This gives points per user figures of:
OcUK - 1,493,128
Italy - 1,212,462
Australia - 491,381
Germany - 339,903
So, we're comfortably ahead on points per user.

On a side note, I'm hovering between 5th & 6th in the single user stats and we have 6 of our 7 users in the top 21 - which is nice :)

^^^ I like those kind of stats :D

All 7 of us are in the top 30 and at 11:50am we seem to be pulling away from the Aussies :)

That makes it sound like I'm slacking. I normally only have a borged GT640 available, so I wasn't doing to badly just quietly plugging away.

But for the good of the team I started up my GTX670 over the weekend and that seems to be making a bit of a difference. But that won't be a long term arrangement due to the electricity. Side effect is that also adds a load of CPU cores to the POGS challenge as I might as well have that machine going flat out if it's going to be on.

Sorry dude, that wasn't the way I meant it :( Well played on kicking in the 670 - if it wasn't for that, the Aussies would be a lot closer :)

Just over halfway through the challenge and we're firmly in 2nd place - over a million ahead of the Aussies. Looking good so far; let's hope they don't have reserves to call on.

Grrr, my borged pc fell over and blue screened last night. :( Looking back at the logs it seems that it couldn't handle a short run WU that for some reason it had been chugging away at for over 2 days. Eventually it's thrown out a "computational error" and given up. Good job I'd started up the 670 otherwise I really would be languishing in the lower leagues.

I had loads of long run comp errors yesterday , seems there must have been a bad batch being sent out as they had failed on other users as well, still all seems ok now and we still pulling ahead of the aussies :)

We topped our best day again yesterday (as did I according to BoincStats).

Just over half a day to go and we've pretty much guaranteed 2nd place - nearly 4 million ahead of Australia as I type. Also, all 7 of our team in the top 30 users and me currently at #4. Barring any last minute disasters, I think we can all give ourselves a pat on the back - a sterling effort for a small team

Well, it's all over and we've done really well, finishing in 2nd place overall. This is a great result when you consider we had a fraction of the participants of most of the other teams. To show how well we did, I've done the figures for the top 5 teams based on the final result.

[/LIST]

As you can see, we were miles ahead in points per user. This reinforces what we've always known - that Team OcUK punches well above its weight in DC projects.

On a personal note, I'm delighted to have finished 4th out of the 200 users who participated. Also, all 7 of our users finished in the top 30.

i think we have good reason to feel pretty good about the result of this challenge :)
