GPUS stopped working :(

Hello, having an issue getting my GPUs to work this morning and i could do with some help i think.

I started the PC this morning and everything seemed fine then i clicked on arma3 launcher and as soon as i did the screen went really low res on my 4k monitor. I couldnt see what caused it so i clicked shutdown then restarted the computer. The computer then booted up but would only display on my 1080p tv, the 4k monitor wasnt been recognised and the nvidia control panel had vanished. I thought something weird with the drivers was going on so i reinstalled which didnt help, then ran DDU and installed again with no difference, so i checked device manager to see both the cards had been stopped by windows due to an error. I've tried removing the SLI bridge and disabling each card individually to see if its just one of them causing be error but they both still get stopped by windows.

I've tried removing all my overclocks and reflashing my mobo bios and im just about to reflash my GPU bioses although the cards have been running underclocked for some time since i only play arma nowadays and its not very demanding so im not sure it will change anything.

Is there anything stupid im missing that you guys can think of before i start disassembling my water cooling, reinstalling the air coolers and trying the cards and pci slots out one by one as that would be a real pain.

Ok i managed to pull the cards out and slide them back in so only the top one is in the pci socket, now the picture has gone back to my main monitor, the card is still showing as stopped in device manager and i have no nvidia panel but it does actually work and lets me launch games but only at about 5 fps, im gonna try to do the same with the bottom card now and at least then if it yields the same results i'll know the cards probably arent blame. I wish i had a spare powersupply now so i could bang that in and rule that out too, maybe i could test the pci-e power connectors to make sure the voltage is correct, does anyone know which pins i would need to test or even if the rest of the PC would even boot if the powersupply was to fail?

Apparently if the PSU isnt supplying power to the GPU i get a large message across my screen as soon as i boot as i found out when i forgot to plug in one of the power cables. Im starting to think the Mobo or CPU has just has just started to fail rather than it having anything to do with the GPUS, the GPUs not installing might just be a side effect. I wish i had another PCI-e card to install to check if anything will install through them.
 
The message its showing is Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I have tried with igpu enabled and disabled, it makes no difference to the other GPUs.
 
Im gonna ask my parents if i can borrow their i3 PC tomorrow, its an older gen than mine but i should be able to sneak it in under my water cooling and then i can at least test my PSU, ram and top GPU without having to drain my loop.
 
When I had the same code awhile ago now it was because a 24 pin extension cable had burnt out, the PSU itself was fine. Worth checking your PSU cables and connections, could be that the PSU itself is faulty of course.
 
Sorted it, seems there was a gpu driver update in the last few days, it must have sneaked in through windows update or gforce app or summat. It seems to have disabled all my custom bioses, i tried about 4 different bioses on both cards till i eventually just downloaded stock nvflash and stuck the stock bioses back on and both cards were instantly recognised by the drivers and sprung to life.

Either way its a bit annoying since all the constant restarting looks like it has corrupted my bios on my mobo since even after several reflashes its switching to secondary bios every restart.

When I read the thread yesterday, I thought of mentioning that I'd been playing a game (Fortnite) and it crashed suddenly, and when I checked Reliability History all that was there was a successful Nvidia driver update. It updated right in the middle of playing a game. But as I continued reading the thread it didn't sound like it was the issue (and I don't do SLI or have custom BIOSes). Glad you sorted it. Boo Microsoft.

By the way, I don't have GeForce Experience installed. It was through a Windows update.
