Graduated 2 years ago - Networking technologies.

Moved to london - decided to do something completely different, started a placement course as an operating department practitioner and hated it, quit after 6 months. Realised I wanted to return to IT looked for jobs and within 2 months I got my current job.

IT desktop support analyst - 20k+. Had it for 3 months now and love it.

Graduated with a 2:2 in Games Art last june.

Did nothing till sort of christmas time (didnt even apply for any jobs tbh just built up my portfolio) then I worked at GAME as a xmas temp.

Got a call from my old company in December to go and work for them again in January for 6 months. 5 months in there I got another job here in Milton Keynes. Have well over 2 years experance in industry now so that should make life a lot easier.

Finshed uni this year with a third haha, grad ceremony thing was just 6 days ago. I've been doing an internship with a new IT company since near the end of July and its been great so far.
Pay isn't brilliant but its just enough to get me through the month and plenty of experience gained here :)

Graduated with a 2.2 in politics from Queens Belfast last summer.

Stayed there for more 6 months of an MA, hated living in NI so much that I quit and came home for my own health. Its been 6 more months of struggling to get ANY work which hasn't been nice so Im back to uni next month doing an MSc at Birkbeck which is pretty cool :)

Only tips are a. don't live in NI unless your from there (makes getting work harder by not being able to understand everyone) and b. get a job, ANY job, whilst at uni. You might think its a good idea to concentrate on your studies and have a bit more fun but looking back on it I must look so lazy to employers. Nothing can be changed for me now but iv learnt the hard way and can head out to fix it now.

Graduated this year with a 1st in Mechanical Engineering (BEng). Currently working as a design engineer with the company which sponsored me through my degree. Buuuuut I'm leaving in March next year to go to China, and SE Asia for 8 months with my GF. :D

Graduated Summer 2010.

Started uni back in 2008 doing Pharmacology at Portsmouth. Couldn't get pass 2nd Year as I partied too much and I didn't like the more physiological side of drugs. Decided to go into a more Chemistry based degree (which I prefer). Came out with a BSc Pharmaceutical Science, 2:1 from Hull Uni (good for it's Chemistry depratment).

Couldn't find jobs as it was very competitive when I came out. Whilst doing a summer job at a local cake factory, I got a contract to work till Christmas. Took up a PGCE course, and did start the pre-course in Jan this year, but little did I know I'm back to the cake factory in a office role now (applied just before I left and got in by Feb).

Happily working here still and climbing up the chain of office roles.

I don't regret doing my degree. In fact, I throughly enjoyed it and best this was, I made a lot of friends and the skills and knowledge I picked up over the course of my degree made me who I am and doing a job that isn't directly related to my degree don't mean I'm a failure.

It just means that I got lemons and I made lemonade out of it.

Graduated in 2009 with a HND in Tech Support/Networking and have been a SECURITY GUARD since!!

Think I need to go back and finish the degree or move out of Aberdeen :( every interview I have been to asks for at least 2 years experience! How am I expected to have experience when no one will take me on? :(

Had my grad ceremony last Monday with a 2:1 in Information Technology from the University of Wolverhampton, at the moment I'm still just working the doors which is the same job that kept me going through uni.

Ouch. Cant say ive ever had problems with people understanding my accent..!

I know its not a great accent but is it that hard to comprehend?

Graduated 2009 with a 2:1 in Computer Science.

Started working for a software development company after a couple of months looking. Still here 2 years later as a Systems Engineer. Not bad at all!

How long do you see yourself staying there? Is the pay good etc?

Final year Software Engineering now

The pay is reasonable/fairly decent, especially for the Hull area but we always wants more :)

I am ocassionally looking for other jobs when I have a spare few minutes just to see if anything takes my fancy. But 90% of the time I enjoy my job so I'm not in a rush.

If I knew how tedious it would be after graduation 4 years ago I would've looked into doing summer placements or even considered the Year in Industry course. That would've at least given me a better shot of getting somewhere.

sounds typical

shoulda made a poll like

unemployed
crappy job
career
further study

can someone make a poll?

Would be nice to see this, but would probably split career into:

Career related to degree
Career not related to degree

I expect the highest figures to fall in the remit of "unemployed" and "crappy job" with the latter coming out on top.

Graduated with a 2:2 in IT in 2010.

First job after Uni was a trainee job at an investment bank as a desktop analyst.

10 months later im no longer a trainee but a full analyst :)

Though its made me had to redo my goals in life as I already hit my 5 yr "money" plan..

Graduated with a 2:1 in Business and IT (2009)

Currently on my second degree related job (spent 1.5yrs at last comp), working as a IT Helpdesk Analyst, mainly bespoke software support, only started 3 weeks back, pay is decent.

Early signs are good, already had a meeting about progression, i'm hoping to get the MS SQL Server Support accreditation under my belt.

Graduated last year with a 2.1 in Accounting & Finance. Worked in an AXA Insurance call centre for the best part of a year as I couldn't find a grad scheme.

Now i'm working for an accountancy firm and studying towards the ACA qualification.

And how hard is it to find job for non accounts grad 2.1 top 5 uni.

I mean sponsor program firm offers job + study?

Graduated in July with a 2.1, I started working for a Software Testing company at the beginning of September, my first interview with the company was in June though and had quite a vigorous selection process. There's jobs out there, just need to put some effort in.
