Scribble over the permanent marker pen with a drywipe marker then rub it off. Easy peasy......though obviously slightly more difficult if it's unpainted wood as the ink will have soaked in, but if it's just a smooth painted or pvc surface then it's an easy fix.

This. More importantly, if you damage the door in any way when you're removing it, even marking the original paint or finish, you'll end up in trouble over it. Let the Landlord deal with it at his own expense. You're filling his pockets after all.

That was it immediately goes from being horrible graffiti, to being the name of a friendly kids tv show. Win/win.
