Gran Turismo 5 track editor confirmed!

I think the track editor sounds good.. I'd prefer 'livery editor' to have been the confirmed feature, but lets face it, a track editor has it's uses..

Let's hope it's a feature rich effort, and not half baked.. normally I'd implicitly trust PD to deliver, but GT PSP has kind of jaded me a little on that front..

Yes 5 years development but when was such a large scale driving game to rival this ever released? On a technical level of sheer beauty and accuracy it wont be rivaled in the quality of its cars. What other console racing game will, who can answer that as no other console games have yet to include 16 cars at 1080p resolutions and manage 60fps. This will be easily the benchmark for racing games in the future and as Ive said before as more and more information is released this looks to be one of the biggest and technically most impressive racing games ever made.

That however doesnt mean it will play brillant or indeed please everyone but on content, quality, car accuracy, graphically, with new features and in technical terms it will be leading the way to redefine racing games.

I saw GT5 on Click over the weekend and I was blown away by the level of cockpit detail on the Ferrari used compared to that of Forza 3, yes GT5 will be something special graphically I just hope it has a soul underneath like Forza 3 feels it does and not just a lifeless representation of some metal.

Easy question to answer. Play GT5P. That will give you a representation of what the game will be like. What specifically makes you lean toward the notion that the shoe of GT5 has no sole? (you meant soul?)

Take a Ferrai F430 or indeed the tricky F40 around Suzuka in both games for a good comparison perhaps.
Neither lack sole but GT cars lean more into corners etc.

Forza 3 may have good tyre dynamics but GT seems to use suspension better.

Unfortunately i haven't had the pleasure of playing Forza3 yet, me and my mates all have PS3's. Infact i was so close to buying the stellar Elite deal that was going on at a certain supermarket. Just couldn't quite justify £200 for playing Forza though :o

The physics in GT5 feel great for me and the game really comes alive with a wheel (G25 is a must purchase nearer when the full game comes out :D). Mr Latte, have you had the chance to do such comparisions yet? I'd be quite interested in your opinions on this.

Hey, stop giving them more ideas, if you are not careful they take another 6 months to add that to the game

Haha. Just seems a little strange that they've gone to all this effort to reproduce driving yet the ability to skin your car how you like it isn't included? I appreciate that it takes time to produce the tools and the code to go with it, but it feels like a missed opportunity. The game has a lot going for it, and should rival Forza 3 for content (hope the driving model is just as good!). Am I right in my understanding that all the cars will just be coloured when you race? I might have to get a PS3 when this is released, if they continue to add more to it...

In Forza's defense, the livery editor is a very complicated tool, which they have done very well. For GT to have one it would as said above, realistically put it back about 6 months. Then they would get more complaints regarding delays from one side and thanks from a much smaller side.

Yes I meant soul, stupid me.

I'd rather not tarnish my GT5 experience by playing GT5:P, but from the time I played it at my friends house earlier in the year it didn't feel like it had much of anything to be honest, didn't feel like I was driving the Ferrari unlike with Forza 3.

It's just my opinion from playing GT5:P earlier this year for about an hour, and having spent a good few hours with Forza 3, if PD can replicate the perceived soul that I get from Forza 3 with the technical ability they have with the engine then I will be impressed, but GT5:P didn't do it for me.

I think this can be atributed to the fact, Forza does have much better sounds than GT. So far as ferrari's are concerned, they have got the enzo and the 430 scud done superbly well (all the cars are good, but those two are excellent).

People have complained about GT tyre noise and the exhaust note doesnt quite work. I find it very hard to tell cars appart on gran turisimo just from sound, american V8s all sound about the same, the F1 car, sounds like a hoover.

It's about my only gripe with GT now, I hope they sort it for the full game.

I like how you are putting your 'opinion' up as almost fact with bullet point features :)

I do hope the majority comes true, well in a meaningful way that is, they could deliver loads, they may do a GT PSP and disappoint..

In terms of 'benchmark' they easily hit it graphically, but there is so many things they need to 'answer' from GT5p that I prey the extra dev time is going to get them to where we want them to be, and to cling to 1080p like it is the measure of graphics or something is pretty odd to say the least, but glad to see (from your Full HD comment) they've hit 1920*1080/60, that is quite impressive in terms of fill-rate.
