Gran Turismo

Looks awful to me, a total non-story rehash with the same character arc we’ve seen a hundred times. Based on a true story lol.

But different strokes and all that…

Still amazed this is going to be a film. I did follow Jann for quite a while as was interested in his story. He never got to the dizzying heights but he seemed to make a somewhat decent career out of motorsport.

Its an interesting story i guess it just depends on how well its written.. Some of the scenes in the trailer did look a bit "Fast and Furious" but i think that F&F got the idea of the fuel combusting through the engine fron one of intros of the games. Oh and Youtuber Emilia Hartford is in it.

It does look rubbish. However, I assume they’re talking about GT Academy, which was a real thing where a GT gamer won a competition and got a real life racing contract.

Oh for sure, I’m not doubting it was based on a true story, it’s just feels a bit weak. I’m probably being overly critical at this point.

He got a podium at Le mans which is pretty good going for someone who came from GT Academy. Wonder if the Nordhsclieffe incident will be in the film, i imagine not.

Might be more appealing to the ‘(i) career aspirations as a pro-gamer / youtuber’ (ii) future-to-be determined’ youth, than our forum cohort of crushed-by-job, defeated-by-life peeps :p

Thing is, I know I'll watch it and I know I'll be shouting/cringing as Hollywood applies "physics" to car movement and uses cars with 30 gears etc.

Ah, the old Hollywood - you're approaching the RPM redline in 6th gear, best change down a gear and stamp your foot to the floor to go even faster then - school of motoring :D

I get that it makes for a more visually exciting impact despite being stupid, and that most Americans don't understand what a manual gearbox is anyway, but sweet baby Jesus won't someone please stop that trope!!!!!
