I'm a little sickened by the way the GTA4 release has been handled.

One store i was in today claimed that the publisher will not send out new stock until the stores have sold out their current stock. Problem is, they only have enough to clear preorders atm!

A certain highstreet chain will only allow you to order the game online for immediate dispatch so long as you buy it as part of a hardware bundle (such as a controller or console). You can't order the title on it's own. They're cashing in on the situation.

I've never seen this happen before. There is no need for it to happen. This has clearly been orchestrated :mad:
 
You mean you never saw retailers only selling the Wii, 360, PS3 with bundle games only?

I didn't pre order and got one at a midnight launch in a queue of at least 70 people.

Next time don't leave it so late or try harder.
 
Nah, they're just chucking it in with any old bit of hardware, or another game. I had to get a controller. i.e £20 extra I didn't particularly want to spend :rolleyes:

Meh, I suppose it'll come in useful when the lads are around...
 
Lol that's ****ing ridiculous, why would they even flog an extra controller with a single player game? It doesn't even have split screen.

What morons.

So did I, but I missed out ;) Shouldn't have to do it anyway. There ought to be stock to meet demand.
 
I managed to pick up a copy from a high street retailer today. They were only allowing one copy per customer.
 
Me and 4 other friends managed to get copies from different places at mid night. You just need to try harder lol

some of us have to work so can get thouse games ya know , anways after work (finaly got out at 3 ) i tryed 6 places all had no copys with the cost from 39 to 50 quid , all out of stock , only one could be bothered to display out of stock sticker the rest just had bucket loads of dummy box's with no way of telling if they had some or not , you can see what happened 5 times lol
 
Yeah this is a really disgusting practice and there's no excuse how some sites don't even let you put in an order for the 'sold out' standard version, now that in particular is wrong, luckily i've not been that bothered about getting it right away but also will not be ordering it from the sites that did this and they will be less likely to get my custom in future, i may even send a quick complaint email, everyone else should too, people should have a bit of willpower and not put up with this sort of thing.
 
I dont know why so many people had a hard time getting it?! Me and my brother woke up at 8am yesterday, cruised down to the purple store walked in and the guy just said "GTA?" we said "yep on the 360 please" then just went home lol! We were the only 2 in there and there were plents of copies behind the counter!

a lot of the high street games retailers have been doing this for years

when there was a shortage of ps2 they only sold the console with £100 worth of pointless tat [usually own label store branded] that no one really wanted

the same thing happened with the n64 and dreamcast iirc
