Grand Theft...

I had to fight with the recently renamed entertainment store, i asked when i pre-ordered to pay the full amount of the game, then when i arrived on release day they tried to charge the dearer expensive full price (£50), only after kicking off and demanding the manager did this get sorted.

Lesson learnt and that rarely used retail outfit will now be even rarely used

The third high street store I checked had stock (at least 15 of each, judging by the size of the display) and didn't even have anyone else in the store! The first two had nothing on the shelves and queues of people waiting to ask for copies. very strange, I thought. This was at 11am yesterday. The manager tried to sell me the special edition, but he couldn't actually give me a full list of what was inside it :D

With regards the bundles, someone hit the nail on the head earlier when they said that the bundles with console and game come in branded boxes, at least the ones I saw in-store yesterday did.

Having to sell it with a spare controller is a bit off, though.

reminds me of when the Wii first came out and there was a huge rush for it. Some companies were selling bundles with three or four games added (rubbish games, I hasten to add) at extortionate prices!

Another GTA thread???

Well things are getting buried too quickly on the "main" threads. I posed a question on there about the voice talent (i.e. Rockstar don't seem to have used professional actors this time) at around 1230 this afternoon and it's already submerged 3 pages back.

I ordered mine on Sunday for £36, had it delivered yesterday. I have been to a few shops and seen it in store - there is stock around.

some of us have to work so can get thouse games ya know , anways after work (finaly got out at 3 ) i tryed 6 places all had no copys with the cost from 39 to 50 quid , all out of stock , only one could be bothered to display out of stock sticker the rest just had bucket loads of dummy box's with no way of telling if they had some or not , you can see what happened 5 times lol

I work and have to be up at 7am for it. Didnt stop me :o

Must try harder :p

Pre-Ordered my copy on 4th April at the rainforest, £34.97, freedelivery, arrived on day of release. Sweeeetahhhh. :)

On the other hand tho, been trying to get ahold of wii fit for the missus, but it's a total no-go, it's like the launch of the wii all over again! Annoyingly she had ordered 10% discount vouchers through scottish gas for Argos with their promotion, and while we waited for them to arrive, pre order had completely sold out. Bummer.

Totally agree with you bfar, they are clearly cashing in on this massive release and while i can see why they are doing it for profit reasons, they clearly have no compassion for people that have a tight budget and want to get their hands on the must have game of the year without some pointless accessory.

Cheers for the great replies lads. I didn't expect to get much support :)

Seriously tho, I've since heard a few more bad stories from the high streets. A mate of mine tried every store in Dublin after work yesterday, only to be told 'preorders only' by some smart arsed spotty teenager working behind the counter.

One store actually had the cheek to ask him if he wanted to put a deposit on the next stock delivery. Despite the fact that they had stock under the counter, albeit ear-marked for existing pre-orders.

The copy I ordered with the controller isn't a boxed bundle, it's two seperate products bundled by the mean retailer. You could have picked other stuff, like a copy of Bully, or DMC4, but not GTA4 on it's own.

The point is, they were claming GTA4 was out of stock. When in fact they dispactched mine this morning (with the offending controller that they pretty much made me buy ). It's all a tactic to keep prices high, and force people into buying more stuff.

This doesn't happen with DVD's or CD's. Never. There was no reason why there couldn't be enough disks to supply demand. God knows they have enough boxes on the stands! The fat cats have really got their teeth into the gaming industry. I liked gaming better when it was a smaller community :(

Just to add something to this thread for people that read it, seems that now more stock is in, that certain retailer instead of selling it on its own they bundle it with a Strategy Guide for £13 extra.

Have they sold it on its own yet!

I agree this is not fair but if it works they will do it :/. I pre-ordered many moons ago and now do it with all my games. Can come early and they dont charge you until its posted and no forced bundles :D

ITs back in stock at the main game online retailers now and with a discount code it can be had for £34.99 at one of them.

Ive held out though, not reallyl my style of game and with all the issues im giving it a miss. Going to spend my £35 on race driver grid.
