Graphic Card Display Driver Problems

Hey,

I bought two HD Radeon 6850 cards for my set up.

I experienced random loss of connection to my monitor and my pc would sometimes crash to the bluescreen and tell me something about my display drivers.

I got a local PC company to come and help fix the problem. They came back and said one of the graphic cards was faulty.

I'm currently still using the other graphics card which is supposed to be ok however I experience random loss of connection to my monitor and freezes where I have to reboot my system for it to come back on.

The error message that I see when I alt-tab out of a game quick enough is this:

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff514/Hatton92/DisplayDriverStoppedResponding.png

"Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered - Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

I have tried many things to fix the problem:

- Re-installing GPU drivers
- Updating the drivers to the newest patch
- Registry Fix
- Clean Install of Windows 7

The problem still happens but is inconsistent, some days I am able to run games fine for the whole day whilst others (like today) I'm only able to run it for about 10 minutes without it crashing and having to re-boot.

I really am stuck for what could be wrong, could it still be the graphics card itself that is also faulty? Should I be getting a warranty claim and a refund?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should try to fix this?

Thanks for your time and any help is greatly appreciated,

Hatton.

I had this problem with a KFA2 560Ti White edition. I narrowed the problem down to a dodgy factory overclock. If I lowered the core clock by 10Mhz it stopped it happening.

Although, this problem only occurred when I played Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3.

I managed to get a 570 as a replacement for my card from KFA2 and the problem has gone.
