Was thinking about what G/C to hook up to my LCDTV.

i can get this one for very cheap. 2x 256MB nVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT - nVIDIA SLI™ Configuration

is this a good option, as i would wan everything on max, and to last at least a year before i have to upgrade.

What resolution? Perhaps stupid question but is the primary use just playback, or your gaming? SLI would suggest the latter ;)

Most LCD TVs are only 1360*768. A 6600gt can run most games at that res and a single 7600gt is not going to have any problems with any dx9 game. Also there are a few passive 7600gt which is great for quiet media playback.

for the price an ideal option would be a 7600gt since it has pure video and its low power consumption. at that rez it will run everything fine even with AA slapped on.

however if you do have the cash and want to steup up a notch then either a x1900gt or x1800xt would be a good option.

fair enough you game at a low resolution, but with the more powerful cards you can slap on 8xAA at that rez and you will really be loving it. and future games like crysis should be ok too on a x1800xt or x1900gt at those low resolutions.

but if money is tight the 7600gt is an excellent choice.

7900gs would have been ideal but since mine died on me i can;t recommend a 79 series card to anyone.

1280*1024 = 1.3 mil pixels
1366*768 < 1.1 mil pixels

Basically, anything that will run on a 19" monitor will run fine on your lcd tv. I would buy one bigger card rather than 2 smaller ones, but that is just me.

so the suggestion is the 7600.

for an extra £60 i can upgrade to a 512MB nVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX- Dual DVI,HDTV & TV-Out + DVI - PCI-Express

andfor an extra £140 i can get either a GeForce 7950 GT - nVIDIA SLI™ Configuration or a GeForce 7950 GX2.

if i go for the GeForce 7600 GT will it last me a while when playing at these lower resolutions?

id rather buy a card that will run the best Sli AA x16 ful blown, will the 7600 be able to do this or is it best to get the 7900+series. I can get discount though nvida so any other g/c isnt an option.
