Graphic Design copyright issues

If you are a freelance graphic designer and do some work for a client who retains the copyright? As the artist do you retain the copyright and sell it under licence or does the client own all rights to the work?

From that thread, it sounds like you would retain all copyright unless otherwise specified in the contract. Hope that helps.

You can sell the copyright, called assignment, but really its usual to license it. However the license specifics will be up to you. You can sell a license to simply use it, modify it, or to redistribute it modified or as is.. all different factors.
