I need to replace my ocuk 8800gtx as it seems to be faulty (was hoping that a £250 card would last at least a couple of years :( )

Anyway I want to get one thats better than the 8800 gtx and I'm hearing maybe the 4890 or the gtx 260 /270 but they seem to have less memory than the 4890 .

I game at 1680 1050 with sig specs .

Really the 260 is about the same as 4870 and the 275 about the same as 4890,
At that res 260 or the 4870 is plenty and really depends on what games you play what you want to get.

GTX 275 is worth the money over the 4870, 4890 and the GTX 260. It's also faster than the 4890, but the ATI cards as always are known to be better at higher resolutions, but your resolution favours the GTX 275.

It's well worth the investment.

This must be the third 8800GTX I have seen in the last two weeks that has died recently...my Gainward one included....£250 you say?....mine cost £380 IIRC.

Hiya. My two pence worth is get the XFX 275, its an awesome card on its own!! I have 2 in sli and they are great. I highly recommend the card and if you get the cheaper stock version you can easily overclock it with EVGA Precision. Thats what I did to save myself a few quid and I have it overclocked and stable over the XFX factory overclock with no issues.

 Well I have bought a asus gtx 275 for about £160 should arrive today I reckon thats better buying a cheaper one and upgrading every year than an expensive one that might only last 18months and will have dated by then anyhow.

cheers for the advice
