Graphics card and Memory upgrade?

Hi guys looking to do some upgrades, my current system is,

Asus TUF Gaming Z590-Plus WIFI
Intel Core i5-11600K
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit
WD Blue SN550 1TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 Solid State Drive (WDS100T2B0C)
AMD Radeon HD 7970

The weakest part of the system is the ancient graphics card, i'm getting a new QHD monitor and thinking about getting a 3080 and also increasing the RAM as i use MSFS2020 all the time which eats RAM, would it be ok to just buy the same RAM again so i would have 4 x 8GB or better to start from scratch and go for 2 x 16B or even a different spec?

Also i'm using an CPU mounted air cooler for me CPU which isn't great and wondering if it's worth upgrading to an AIO water cooled unit but not looking to spend too much money on CPU cooling.

Any ideas on monitors appreciated too, looking for a monitor for mainly simming around 27" QHD and looking to spend around 3 or 4 hundred on a monitor.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thx.

AMD are releasing there RDNA3 gpu's on November 3rd so I would wait till then.

Memory sure just add another 16 gb of the same or opt for 32gb of 3600mhz and sell your old stuf, performance wont be much diffrence either way.

Which cpu cooler do you have ?

That is a decent cooler and should be more than capable of cooling your cpu so I would say keep it. You can always run Blender R23 or Prime95 and then see what sort of temps you are getting. 11th gen intel chips do run hot but if you are below 90c when running either of those then you will be OK.

It is hitting 100 when I run prime95 and the red cpu led on the board lights up which I think means it's throttling, I could try repasting the cpu but I think it's because the case is quite small and a rad on top should help with that. It does only have 1 case fan on the front and 1 on the back which I could increase if you think that might help?

If you have some spare paste then take the cooler off repaste and run the same test with the side panel off, see if that makes a difference. If it is still the same then undervolting can at times do wonders for a cpus temps, 11th gen were very toasty so you can only do so much.

What case is it?

Thanks for the advice guys, it's a Riotoro CR400 ATX Mid-Tower Case, not a very expensive case but didn't want anything big this time.

Add another fan at the front, repaste your cooler as mentioned above and see if there's any improvement.

An easy way to see if its airflow is taking the side panel if the case.
