Hi, soon going to be buying the bits for a new rig and going round in circles a bit with which gfx card + monitor to buy.

A few months ago I got rid of a rig (E8400 @ 3.6, 4870x2 and 24" Benq) - So far I've been looking at 4980 oc edition (with the option of maybe throwing in another in x-fire in a couple of months) or Gtx 285 or wait for the new 5xxx series?

In regards to the monitor, which res would be best? Go for 24" again or 22" or 22" @ 1900x1080 res?

My proposed specs so far are :

Antec 902 Case
Corsair TX 750w Psu
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P or MSI 790FX-GD70
Phenom II X4 955
4GB DDR 3

Any help deciding is appreciated!

If you still have a decent PC, hold off until the nVidia 300 series and the new ati cards. Haven't a clue about monitor to be honest, I'm still using a ten year old CRT from my dads old PC :P.

I don't have a decent pc anymore sadly, I sold off my gaming rig when I moved house but regretted it - I'm currently on an athlon 4400 x2, 1gb ram and an old 7600gt. The games I play mainly FPS and MMO's (Lotro and Aion), both pretty unplayable on this system.

Thanks, Ill go for a 5xxx series then if they are reasonably priced. Anyone able to answer my question about monitors or doesn't it really matter that much?
