Graphic's Card Issue?

I am wondering if anyone can help me and advise if my Graphics Card could be the causer of my PC crashing by which the image goes off the screen & i am left with a black screen. However, the PC is still running. I can usually get away with pressing the windows key (bottom left of the keyboard) which brings up the Start menu and minimises anything i currently have on screen. This takes a couple of mins and then i can carry on but recently i have had to reboot my PC from the base unit !!

I have tried pressing Control, Alt and Delete to bring up the Task Manager but nothing so i have to reboot from the Base Unit.

I currently use Core Temp to keep on eye on the temperature of my PC. If the PC is too warm or too hot could this cause it to crash.

I hope the above makes sense as its so hard to try and describe what is happening with this Desktop PC....!! Very frustrating at times too.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance

AGP Version 3.0 (if this is right)... If not can you tell me where you would find this information.
Sorry and thanks for the welcome.

i would download gpu-z and see what temps are like for gfx card.

however since the pc is still running makes it look like a gfx issue, is there sound? if sound cuts off could be a crash and that could even be your CPU as well.

Thanks for responding... I take it Core Temp is a waste of time then?
The PC beeps and then freezes but the PC is still running but nothing on the screen and the monitor is still on?
Unsure if its overheating. The fans in the Base Unit obviously dont cool the PC down.
You may think its sad but i am a Sim Fan and it crashes/freezes everytime i play it. Its only recently that the images on screen disappear.
I am thinking of getting either a Laptop or Notebook and just using my Desktop PC for the Sims. In 2 minds whether to upgrade my PC totally.
