I recently purchased a new EVGA 9600GT KO edition from OC, and i'm pleased with it, i installed it myself(first time ever :P) so all seems good. Just wandering though, call of duty united offensive(an old game) i dont get a high fps, infact i got a higher fps on cod 4 than uo with my old 7900GS, and now with my 9600 it doesnt seem to have changed from about 125 which i could get on my old graphics card, were as my friend has said he can get 500fps with his 9600?

Also on my nvidia control panel i cant get the highest resoultion that my grpahics card has, same with screen refresh rate?

Is there something im doing wrong? i understand this may just be a problem with the game but any help would be much apreciated(spelling?)

thanks adz :)

Hello and welcome to OCUK aDzii.

Have you set max FPS in console?.

Also don't hope much with the older CoD series and Nvidia as the drivers or just the cards have a problem with CoD1, CoDUO might be affected also. I've not had CoDUO installed since moving to Nvidia. The Problem with CoD1 and this is with my 8800GTX and my friend in Holland with his system and his 8800GT is that in close battles it produces really bad lag and the whole screen slows down. Firing at a small distance can sometimes produce the same result. It's absolutely a joke that I could run this game no problem at all with a 9800Pro, X800XT PE, 7600GT, X1900XT, 2900Pro but the faster GT and GTX have hiccups .

I'm part of a community ({FP}Freeporn) that hosts seven (really 8 as it's a private Fight Night server for community members) CoD1 servers and three CoD4 servers. CoD4 is fine but we all still play and love CoD1. In fact our servers are populated everyday and quite busy in CoD1 and I want to stay competitive. Not lose out in a rifle battle or a 1-on-1 because my GTX can't handle it . My m8's GT is sitting in it's box and a HD3870 is in because of this. Why can't Nvidia run this game with the 8800's (9600 is practically the 8800GTS with half of the shaders) when any ATI card just about pee's all over this game. Even the 7 series Nvidia didn't have a problem with this as I used the 7600GT briefly.

That was a bit of a rant :o. Oh, well. I know that the above information might be useless if you don't play CoD1 and UO is unaffected but as you are playing an older series as I also do I thought you'd probably have and play CoD1.

Did you run driver sweeper in safe mode after removing the installation of the drivers and then install the new ones?(making sure the Nvidia folder is deleted before booting back into XP/Vista to install the new driver).

Hi,
Yes i tried all the fps commands in console nothing changed :(.
And how do i " run driver sweeper in safe mode after removing the installation of the drivers and then install the new ones?(making sure the Nvidia folder is deleted before booting back into XP/Vista to install the new driver). " lol :P.

p.s 3d mark results will be posted as soon as i download 3dmark06! :)

Nothing with maxfps hmm.

The reason you have to run in safe mode to do the final driver sweep after uninstalling the current ones is because a few files are still in use when you remove the drivers as otherwise your PC would become mighty unstable and most likely crash with suddenly ripping out the drivers in use. This is why people go into safe mode to delete the files previously in use so when the new driver is installed that there is nothing conflicting at all and all you are seeing is the drivers performance that you downloaded.

Download and install Driver Sweeper from Guru3d. Uninstall the Nvidia driver from control panel. Do not restart when it asks and now run Driver Sweeper for the 1st time. Click on Nvidia display and then click the right arrow to add it into the empty box on the right. Then click the sweeping brush. After just a few seconds close Driver Sweeper and exit the program and restart the PC.

As soon as the PC beeps and starts from BIOS then keep hitting "F8" until you get a lot of options to choose from in the DOS screen. Navigate to "Safe Mode" and when the box comes up select "Yes" otherwise you'll start Windows restore. Once on the desktop then run Driver Sweeper for the second and final time just doing the exact same as before by selecting the Nvidia display driver and moving it to the box to the right. Then sweep, wait a few seconds, restart. Install new drivers, restart PC and hey presto.

It might sound a hassle but it's easy.

Ok ill try what you said later.

TBH, that score looks about right, maybe a little on the low side. 0fps on the cpu test is normal and your CPU will hold back that score big time. Check out:

On the resolution, its likely that it's not showing the max res as it doesn't know if its compatable with your monitor. Can you get the native res of your monitor OK?

Is my CPU pretty bad? If so have you got any recommended CPUs, that won't put me in lifetime debt!?:P

And yes i found out about the resolution problem thanks! :)

Depends on what your using the PC for really. I'd be guessing for games more than anything else and for the latest titles it certainly won't be helping much.

I've just noticed you've got a Dell. Bear in mind that the older systems can be tricky when upgrading single components. I found this when I was looking to upgrade my XPS system. I ended up going for a new PC which I knew I could upgrade the parts on a more regular basis.

Ye looking for a proccesser for gaming and already changed my graphics card in my dell lol :)[/QUO

Fairly sure I had the same processor in my XPS and the MB wasn't compatible with dual core chips. Might be worth checking before splashing out on new CPU.
