I built a pc a few weeks with the following parts

3500 winchester
asus a8v deluxe
4x512 corsair
80gb western digital hdd
BFG 6800 ultra oc
aero cool 550watt psu
windows xp sp2
Pioneer 111

I had problems playing the company of heroes demo so i updated my graphics card drivers and the demo worked fine. When i booted pc today i got a nvidia box popup saying that the Card is not recieving enough power and so that i dont cause damage to the card it will run at a lower setting?.I thought a 550 watt psu would be more then enough to power this setup.

Yeah me too

Erm I dont know if it will make any difference, but is there a switch on the back of your PSU (this switch will be on the PSU side which is inside the case) say 115V / 230V and you switch it to the one you want? You want 230V obviously :)

What ? ? ?

the video card doesn't have or doesn't think it has the aux power connector connected. The extra molex or similar connector. Double check that it's connected or connected properly.

Don't touch that switch unless you like loud bangs and the smell of burning !

The Well when i boot pc after installing latest drivers from nvidia i get a pop up on the screen that says Nvidia Sentinel has detected that your video card is not getting enough power, and has lowered the settings automatically.I only have gotten this error once and i have rebooted pc 3 times today.I have never touched the 230v switch so dont panic :P

I just done a performance test on COH and i got average 32fps max 87fps and minimum 19

I have noticed taht the 2 power sockets that fit in back of the card i have one straight from PSU with nothing attached and the other is attached to my dvd drive. With these cards that have 2 power connectors do i need to make sure that there is nothing else attached to the leads from psu that i connect to gcard?

What he means is kinda simple, if the vga card has 2 power connectors do they need to be taking power directly from 2 psu 4-pin connectors.

What i suggest is find 2 free connectors from your psu and just used them on the vga card. do not feed your vga from the 2nd one in-line example connecting to a dvd-drive first and then to your vga.

Hope its clear enough otherwise i can make a simple drawing ;)

Its pretty simple, virtually all PSU's have at least 2 sets of molex leads coming out of them, which in turn have 2 or more cpnnectors.

Connect 1 from each of the leads.

Most decent PSUs these days have a seperate connector with "VGA" written on it, use that if you've got one and then one of the other connectors.

my psu has got 2 of those as well as a PCI-E dedicated one...

Might be time go get a new psu, if you haven't got the above.
