Graphics card or monitor fault?

Hi

I was wondering if theres an easy way to tell if a fault (a vertical band running top to bottom of screen; sometimes there, sometimes not, slightly different colour) is due to a faulty graphics card, or a monitor (or even a driver?). If I take a screenshot the fault doesnt show up in the screenshot - does that narrow it down? I'm running 84.21 drivers on a 7900GT.

Apologies for the basic questions and any help greatly appreciated,

Cheers

Can you print screen and post a jpeg of it ? If its a monitor fault it shouldnt have big line on it, if its the card it will. So im told by a mate who "knows his stuff" print screen shoudl just capture the image being sent out by the GFX card

make sure its seated nicely in the slot and the cables well plugged in if it persists then panic more.

Thanks for the replies - sounds like its a monitor issue then as when I capture screen shots the line is not captured in them. I'll post on them monitor board for more help - cheers.
